It’s hardly surprising that Netflix remains one of the premier destinations for original shows, given its success with titles like Squid Games and Stranger Things. In the coming month, an array of fresh and returning series are set to debut on the platform, enticing subscribers to dive in as soon as they become available.

A diverse selection of comedies, romances, and other genres will be available for viewers to pick from next month, featuring renowned actors such as Tina Fey, Steve Carell, and Julianne Moore in various shows on the platform. As is customary with Netflix, there’s always something suitable for whatever viewers feel like watching.

‘The Four Seasons’ (Limited Series)

As a devoted cinephile, I can’t help but share my enthusiasm for “The Four Seasons,” a hilarious TV series inspired by the 1981 film of the same name. This comedy follows three long-time couples who have shared decades of friendship. We think we’re in for a peaceful weekend getaway, but boy, are we wrong! The group is rocked when they learn that one couple is on the verge of parting ways, sending shockwaves through the rest of us.

After a year’s time, viewers join a group of friends on their four exciting vacations, which reveal changing relationships among them. Previous problems resurface, while fresh conflicts come to light. Starring Tina Fey, Will Forte, Steve Carell, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Colman Domingo, and Marco Calvani, this series is a humorous yet sincere tribute to enduring friendships and long-lasting marriages. The Four Seasons will be available for streaming starting May 1.

‘Forever’ (Season 1)

In a fresh take on Judy Blume’s 1975 novel, titled “Forever,” the story revolves around the love affair of two African-American teenagers, Keisha (played by Lovie Simone) and Justin (Michael Cooper Jr.). This tale unfolds in Los Angeles during the year 2018, providing an authentic portrayal of their first-time romance and personal identities. The series delicately explores their experiences as they navigate through the sometimes awkward but unforgettable phase of each other’s ‘firsts.’

‘Big Mouth’ (Season 8)

In a natural and easy-to-read manner: The mature animated series, Big Mouth, makes its comeback for its eighth and concluding season, offering the cherished characters from Bridgeton another round of fresh hurdles to overcome. As they advance into high school, Nick (portrayed by Nick Kroll) and his pals will grapple with new experiences such as driving, substance use, lack of sexual knowledge, pornography, and teenage psychology. Yet, the scariest ordeal they’ll encounter is the apprehension about their impending futures.

Despite encountering numerous challenges this season, the teenagers are well-equipped to tackle them thanks to their resilient friendships and their unstoppable hormones that keep things funny. A new character, Compassion (played by Holly Hunter), will play a significant role in shaping the characters’ decisions throughout the season. Although their futures remain uncertain, they can confidently face whatever lies ahead as long as they have each other by their side. Don’t miss Big Mouth, streaming on May 23.

‘Dept. Q’ (Season 1)

In the realm of British crime thrillers, the series titled “Department Q” revolves around ex-elite detective Carl Morck (Matthew Goode), who with his fresh team, dives into unsolved cold cases. Assigned to establish a specialized department for such cases, Department Q, he and his fellow officers – often considered misfits – work tirelessly to bring justice to the long-forgotten cases that land on their desks. Nestled within an Edinburgh basement office, Carl is determined to streamline this innovative unit and tackle some of the most challenging cases that seem almost impossible to crack. “Department Q” will be streaming from May 29 onwards.
