The upcoming BBC drama, First Day on Earth, has announced several new actors joining the cast. Created by and starring Michaela Coel – the talent behind the award-winning I May Destroy You – the series centers on Henri, a British-Ghanaian author who travels to Ghana to connect with her family’s roots.
Fleeing her old life – including her relationships and a strange encounter at a book event – she escapes to Ghana, where she quickly finds herself immersed in a completely new culture.
Henri experiences both happiness and hardship as she makes new friends and navigates complex relationships. Along the way, she uncovers secrets and faces deception, forcing her to re-evaluate her identity, family history, and everything she thought she knew.

Following the initial cast announcement featuring Ncuti Gatwa, Thandiwe Newton, Maxine Peake, and Danny Sapani, more actors have now been revealed.
The film’s cast features Bukky Bakray (known from Rocks) as Sunny, Rakie Ayola (from Kaos) as Maame, Ama Serwah Genfi, also known as the singer Amaarae, as Nana, Adam Lundgren (The Ugly Stepsister) as Asger, singer Ray BLK as Jacqueline, and Kobna Holdbrook-Smith (Wonka) as Steve.
