The latest installment in the Scream franchise, Scream 7, is now in theaters and generating buzz. Meanwhile, director Kevin Williamson is quietly developing a new, highly anticipated project.
Kevin Williamson is a celebrated writer, producer, and director famous for his work on popular 90s horror films like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. He’s also known for creating hit teen dramas such as Dawson’s Creek and The Vampire Diaries. Despite his success with those shows, he’s remained passionate about horror and recently directed the newest Scream movie.
Following the success of Scream 7, Kevin Williamson is already planning his next project: a new TV show with Universal. He told Esquire that this series is in development and described it as being similar in tone to the popular teen drama The Vampire Diaries, which continues to attract viewers years after it originally aired.
Netflix and Universal were generous enough to allow me to start working on Scream VII and pause other projects, and that’s what I’m concentrating on now. I’m currently writing a television show – think of it as a more mature version of The Vampire Diaries. It’s set within the world of Universal’s classic monsters, letting me incorporate characters like Dracula, Frankenstein, and the Wolf Man, which is a lot of fun.
