Universal’s new Florida theme park: When does it open and what will be there?
As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the magical worlds of both Disney and Universal, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming expansion at Universal Orlando Resort! The addition of Super Nintendo World, a Harry Potter land, and sectors inspired by “How to Train Your Dragon” and Universal’s classic monster movies promises an adventure unlike any other.
Next year, the Universal Orlando Resort in Florida will add a fourth theme park, which includes zones devoted to Nintendo, Harry Potter, and other popular franchises. This expansion is predicted to intensify Universal’s rivalry with The Walt Disney Company in Florida.
On May 22, Universal Studios is set to welcome visitors, as revealed on Thursday. This announcement follows some time after Disney received permission for an extensive $17 billion expansion of their Orlando resort, which will take place over the next decade or two.
Beyond Super Nintendo World and a magical Ministry of Magic area based on Harry Potter, Epic Universe will also feature zones inspired by the popular “How to Train Your Dragon” series and Universal’s classic monster movie universe. Additionally, a 500-room hotel providing exclusive access to the new park is planned for the resort in the near future.
Starting Tuesday, multi-day tickets and holiday packages for Epic Universe, which include admission, will be available for purchase; meanwhile, annual pass holders of Universal Orlando Resort can secure individual day tickets to Epic Universe from Thursday onwards.
Karen Irwin, president of Universal Orlando Resort, expressed her excitement by saying, “This is a defining moment for our location, and we can’t wait to greet visitors at Epic Universe next year.” She added that this upcoming event will leave an indelible mark on our universe.
Besides Universal and its Philadelphia-headquartered parent company, Comcast, other entertainment giants are also expanding their theme park domains.
In addition to investing $17 billion in Orlando, Disney plans to extend its Anaheim resort by $1.9 billion. This expansion includes Disneyland, Disney California Adventure, and numerous hotels on the site.
The large media and entertainment company based in Burbank is likely to share additional details about its future strategies, given that it’s consistently investing funds into what they call their “experience” sector.
