Universal Pictures has addressed the leak of Christopher Nolan’s film, The Odyssey, after a copy appeared on X (formerly Twitter). Reports indicate that around two million people saw the post, which featured a clear, high-quality version of the movie.
I was so excited to see the post finally up on Saturday, July 25th! It stayed live for over two hours before the account got suspended, which meant the film itself disappeared. Apparently, someone managed to upload a worse quality version the next day, but even that didn’t last long – it was taken down within just a few hours. It’s frustrating when things get removed so quickly!
So, Universal just put out a statement after that leak, and basically they said they found out about the movie being posted online right away and immediately started working to get it taken down. It’s pretty standard stuff, but good to know they’re on it as a gamer who was looking forward to seeing it legitimately.
We strongly oppose copyright violations and will take legal action to defend our work and ownership rights.
Even though the film was leaked online, The Odyssey still made a huge $215 million globally during its second weekend. This brings its total earnings to an impressive $639 million in only ten days (according to Box Office Mojo).

When this all started, they said we had about two and a half hours to work with, and over time, as the show grew, we definitely expanded. But honestly, I think we’ve used that time perfectly to tell the complete story we wanted to tell.
