Under Paris 2 is reportedly in development at Netflix

Exciting news for fans of the popular French shark film, “Under Paris“: It appears that a sequel, titled “Under Paris 2“, is being developed by Netflix. This implies that we can look forward to another thrilling underwater journey!
In June 2024, the initial movie became an enormous success upon its release on Netflix, ultimately securing the position of the second most watched non-English film on the platform, just behind the blockbuster creature feature Troll. Consequently, it’s not entirely unexpected that a follow-up is being planned.
Additionally, Bérénice Bejo, who played the leading role in the film “Under Paris,” has mentioned in a recent interview with LA Tribune that they plan to begin production on a sequel in September 2025. Although there was no definitive confirmation at the time of the interview that “Under Paris 2” was being developed, recent developments suggest that this is indeed the case.
Based on Variety’s report, filmmaker Xavier Gens, who originally created the movie, is now developing its sequel. Additionally, it appears that Bejo will take up her character Sophia once more, and Nassim Lyes will reappear in his role as Adil. However, according to Bejo, they may start shooting the sequel in September 2025; Variety’s sources suggest that the movie is still in its early stages, and filming might not begin until as late as 2026.
Currently, specifics about the storyline are being kept secret, but in an earlier conversation with Variety, Gens hinted that if there’s an Under Paris 2, it would be set in a waterlogged version of Paris. Bejo added in her interview with LA Tribune that this sequel will have a unique twist, although it will still revolve around a shark.
