Unboxing: The Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2018 Limited Edition by Simon Porte Jacquemus

Veuve Clicquot’s La Grande Dame 2018 is the 25th vintage expression of the original blend crafted in 1972, and it’s got Madame Clicquot written all over it. Inspired by her legacy, the blend honors the fearless woman who once led the House. Everything French ready-to-wear designer Simon Porte Jacquemus creates is a celebration of a special woman in his life as well: his mother, after whom the brand is dedicated. Uniting two creative universes that revel in the beauty of the everyday, Jacquemus and Veuve Clicquot joined forces to reinterpret La Grande Dame 2018 through Simon’s refined lens.

Jacquemus and Veuve Clicquot are heavily influenced by their French backgrounds, and this essence finds its way into the limited-edition bottle. The Veuve Clicquot iconic yellow is reflective of the sun’s radiance, and the bottle itself displays a yellow label embossed with sun rays, accented by Simon’s handwritten signature. The bottle is also draped with a white linen, evoking the elegance in Simon’s clothing and accessory designs.

Simon additionally contributed to creating a unique ice-replenishing device, often referred to as a rafraîchissoir or cooler, for the champagne launch. This champagne bucket and cooler were modeled after Medici vases, showcasing intricate fish-like illusions that mimic the French and Mediterranean shores – a nod to Simon’s personal experiences.

Camille Orfèvre, an expert craftsman specializing in metalwork, is one of the few remaining master artisans in Paris. She not only excels in her field but also collaborates, contributing her exceptional skills to create intricate silverware pieces made from silver-plated metal. The production of these works takes approximately 40 hours by hand, limiting their availability to custom orders only.

The Le Rafraîchissoir collection features a glass set and an assortment of vintage versions of La Grande Dame, specifically the 2018, 2012 editions in Magnum bottles, as well as the 1990 version, which holds a special significance as it was the birth year of Simon.

As a fashion enthusiast, I’m thrilled to announce that my favorite champagne, Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2018 Limited Edition, will be unveiled during New York Fashion Week! This partnership with Simon Porte Jacquemus is a dream come true, as it transports the enchanting essence of the South of France right to the heart of New York City.

But that’s not all! This collaboration doesn’t just stop in New York. It goes global, with a campaign directed by Jonas Lindstrœm and beautifully captured by Jack Davison. I can hardly wait to see how these two visionaries combine their talents to create something truly magical.

Starting from September 9, the exclusive limited-edition bottle is set to debut in the United States. Expanding further, it’s scheduled to roll out in the UK, Italy, and France towards the end of the month. For more details, head over to veuveclicquot.com.
