The Fantastic Four: Initial Strides

In this upcoming film, viewers can expect an unexpected second formidable adversary. The next Marvel Studios production introduces the remarkable superhero clan – the Fantastic Four – as they engage in a battle against Galactus, a cosmic entity consuming worlds (portrayed by Ralph Ineson). Directed by Matt Shakman, this movie marks the third significant endeavor to bring the Fantastic Four onto the big screen and the first installment within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The upcoming sixth Marvel movie is set for release on July 25th, featuring an array of thrilling characters and actors that have been confirmed so far. However, it’s worth noting that the list of antagonists seems to be growing bigger by the day.

All the Villains in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps

Mole Man (Confirmed)

An unexpected character joining the storyline of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is none other than Mole Man. This has been hinted at by cast member Joseph Quinn, who recently shared this information during an interview with Omelete at CCXPMX 25. When asked about the array of remarkable characters in the movie, Quinn mentioned Mole Man without disclosing the actor playing the villain, although speculation points to Paul Walter Hauser’s unannounced role.

This movie boasts an impressive ensemble. You’ll find many captivating personalities among them. Notably, Mole Man adds charm to his role. However, the main antagonist is none other than Galactus.

In the Marvel universe, Harvey Rupert Elder, more commonly known as Mole Man, is frequently at odds with the Fantastic Four, being one of their earliest adversaries. As depicted in the comics, Elder was a nuclear engineer and conspiracy theorist, often ridiculed by his peers due to his beliefs about a hollow Earth. After a fateful fall into Subterrania, he rose to power as the ruler of the Moloids, a race he had created with the help of the Deviants. He then orchestrated a series of attacks on the surface world, aiming to one day conquer it with his Moloid subjects by his side.

In the opening scenes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, the Fantastic Four are well-known heroes. The film could showcase this extraordinary team battling their initial powerful adversary, Mole Man. Leaked footage from The Fantastic Four: First Steps indicates a mining site, potentially indicating Mole Man’s underground hideout. This implies that the Mole Man may be one of the early supervillain encounters in the film, preceding the emergence of Galactus.

Galactus (Confirmed)

As a dedicated fan, I must express my admiration for “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” a marvel (pun intended) that leaves no room for ambiguity when it comes to its most formidable adversary – the colossal Galactus, both physically and symbolically. This cosmic being, capable of devouring planets, is portrayed striding across an alternate Earth, leaving behind him a trail of destruction. The Silver Surfer, his herald, delivers a chilling warning: their world has been targeted for annihilation. Despite the necessity of using CGI to bring Galactus to life due to his unfathomable size, it’s fascinating to know that Ineson lent his motion capture skills to breathe life into this titanic figure.

Galactus is a powerful villain in Marvel Comics, capable of destroying entire planets. In the upcoming movie, it remains uncertain if the Fantastic Four can prevent their own planet from being destroyed by Galactus. The solution to this predicament could tie the Fantastic Four’s storyline to their future involvement in “Avengers: Doomsday.

Red Ghost (Reported)

In the potential lineup for the comic “First Steps,” we might encounter Ivan Kragoff, also known as Red Ghost – a former Soviet scientist. He endeavors to recreate the incident that bestowed the Fantastic Four with their extraordinary abilities, all while having a troop of apes at his disposal.

It’s been whispered that John Malkovich might be playing a hidden character in Marvel, a move that could bring the Cold War era space competition between Russia and the USA into the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 1960s-style futuristic parallel world.

Doctor Doom (Expected)

Spectators are excitedly anticipating the comeback of Robert Downey Jr., who played Iron Man, taking on a fresh character, Victor von Doom, within the MCU. However, there’s speculation as to whether Marvel Studios might hold off unveiling him until Avengers: Doomsday.

First Steps”, it appears that Galactus will be the primary villain instead, which suggests that Doctor Doom may not have a significant role in this particular production, as suggested by director Matt Shakman.

There’s a strong suspicion that Robert Downey Jr.’s character, Doctor Doom, may make an appearance in some capacity within The Fantastic Four: First Steps. This might even occur during the movie’s closing credits.

Bonus: Silver Surfer

The Silver Surfer often doesn’t fit neatly into categories like traditional heroes or villains due to his complex moral nature. Known primarily as a servant of Galactus, he announces Galactus’s arrival on various planets. This role is a result of the Silver Surfer’s own planet being consumed by Galactus, also known as the World Devourer.

In the film “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” Julia Garner’s portrayal of the Silver Surfer initially positions her as an adversary against the Fantastic Four heroes. However, there is a potential for her character’s transformation, potentially shifting her role from antagonist to protagonist by the movie’s end.
