Umbrella Academy cast on filming season 4’s “emotional” final scene
As a die-hard fan of The Umbrella Academy, I can say that watching the cast’s final scene together was a bittersweet moment that will forever be etched in my memory. Tom Hopper’s emotional account of filming the Hargreeves’ sacrifice during those late-night hours really resonated with me. Just like him, I too found it hard to fully grasp the magnitude of the end of an era.
As a gaming enthusiast recounting an unforgettable moment, let me tell you that when it came to shooting our last group scene on The Umbrella Academy, I must admit, it felt incredibly emotional.
In the dead of night, as reported to Digital Spy, Hopper explained the pivotal moment when the Hargreeves gave up their lives to rewind time and prevent another catastrophe, thereby averting another apocalypse.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been putting in some serious late-night sessions this week. So, when it came time to film, I was up bright and early at 4 AM, working in the studio. Despite the ungodly hour, we were determined to get the job done!
He continued, “It was undeniably emotional,” he admitted, “yet exhaustion seemed to have overtaken us all following the shoot, making us more inclined to head straight for our beds rather than fully realizing the ‘that’s the end of an era’ sensation yet.”
The actor who plays Luther Hargreeves added:
“But I really loved looking into all these guys’ eyes as we were shooting that [scene]. There was a personal aspect to it. Us as actors, as well as the lines. I said, ‘I’m really gonna miss you guys,’ [and] that rings true for me as Tom.”
To Digital Spy, Elliot Page (Viktor Hargreeves actor) expressed that it was both a pleasure and a genuine joy to observe the development of his fellow cast members’ characters throughout the years.
“I feel just so lucky to have been a part of it.”
Even though the fourth season concluded tragically with the death of a sibling, the closing credits hinted subtly that the Hargreeves family might not have met their final fate. This was suggested by the appearance of marigold flowers – a symbol associated with them – in the show’s last scene.
Breaking down the ending Klaus actor Robert Sheehan said:
“In some sense, our spirits continue to exist after we die. If discussing spiritual matters isn’t your thing, let me put it this way: There seemed to be a strong feeling that life goes on in another form, similar to the concept of reincarnation.”
Regarding the incident involving other power-granted individuals born on October 1, 1989, they both confessed that they were uncertain about it.
Sheehan shared with Digital Spy that they hadn’t delved deeply into it, as there simply wasn’t enough space to explain what became of the remaining 35 [individuals/subjects].
The Umbrella Academy seasons 1-4 are available to stream now on Netflix.
