Fans are speculating about the future direction of Ultraman within the DC Universe following Superman’s final fight in the movie. Prior to its release, Ultraman was one of the most enigmatic characters introduced in the new DCU, delivering several powerful blows to David Corenswet’s Superman. As a movie reviewer, let me tell you, the climactic battle concluded with Clark Kent hurling Ultraman into the vast expanse of a cosmic black hole, effectively banishing him from our world and averting imminent danger for Earth. Just prior to this, Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific skillfully sealed the tear in space-time. However, it seems that Ultraman may morph into an unpredictable, comics-inspired character – Bizarro Superman, posing potential threats in the not-so-distant future.

In the movie, spectators have proposed the idea that the final black hole could turn out to be a strange realm known as Bizarro World, where everything functions in reverse compared to Earth. This world is governed by the Bizarro Code, which encourages its inhabitants to strive for imperfection instead of perfection.

Fans speculate that Ultraman might eventually embody DCU’s interpretation of a Bizarro-like Superman, a hypothesis with some merit. Already, aspects of Bizarro, such as being a clone and a less intelligent version of Superman, are present in the character, suggesting these elements could be more pronounced in future films.

When Will Bizarro Superman Debut in the DCU?

As a movie critic, I must admit my excitement for the upcoming portrayal of Bizarro Superman in the DCU. However, it appears that fans might have to wait a bit longer before witnessing this unique twist on the Man of Steel. You see, James Gunn, our creative mastermind, has emphasized the importance of having a polished script before greenlighting any project for production. At present, he seems to be carefully curating which stories will find their way onto the big screen in the near future.

It’s been disclosed that David Corenswet has signed another Superman solo film contract with DC Studios, suggesting he’ll be sticking around for some time with this character. He didn’t provide details about the length of the deal, but it shows that DC Studios is committed to keeping this hero on the big screen under James Gunn’s supervision for an extended period.

According to initial box office figures, Superman is off to a promising start, though it’s only been a few days since its release (as of now). Notably, it set a new record for James Gunn as the director with the highest domestic preview opening night gross. Estimates suggest that it might earn anywhere between $120 million and $170 million during its opening weekend.

Considering such impressive results, it’s hard not to imagine Bizarro Superman becoming reality at some point, almost like an inevitable decision. The main curiosity lies in when Tyler Hoechlin, our Man of Steel, will don the suit again for a second run.
