UK’s Eurovision 2025 Entry Shocks Fans: Meet the Country Girl Band!
This year’s UK Eurovision act has been revealed as country girl band Remember Monday.
The group consists of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele, marking a significant genre change compared to last year’s act Olly Alexander.
A source told The Sun: ‘As ever behind the scenes competition has been fierce to represent the UK.
‘This year bosses have opted to shake things up and send a female trio, Remember Monday.
Instead of Olly Alexander’s tunes from last year, this year’s song will take an unexpected turn, yet the ladies are confident that it will rally the country’s support.
On Monday, there’s high anticipation for improved outcomes at this year’s competition held in St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland. This is because Olly didn’t receive any public votes back in May.
Previously, the band hasn’t been a novice in appearing on television competitions; they had participated in The Voice as far back as 2019, which caught the attention of Scott Mills from BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show when they were broadcasted on the radio last year.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve had the privilege of gracing some of the UK’s most prominent stages, such as Country to Country, The Long Road, and Buckle and Boots. Quite an experience!
Remember Monday also boast a following of 524,000 followers on TikTok and 76.3k on Instagram.
Prior to the arrival of the New Year, the band hinted at an upcoming excitement on Instagram while expressing gratitude towards their fans for their unwavering support.
Instantly, their faces brightened as they wrote: ‘Happy New Year!! This year has been extraordinary, and we can’t express enough our gratitude to all of you for your support!’
Whether it’s purchasing a tour ticket from us, enjoying our music, or just appreciating our videos, we appreciate each and every one of you deeply!
As an overly enthusiastic fan, I can’t help but share this secretive tidbit: “We’ve been keeping mum, engrossed in something that’s had us quite occupied. Wink wink!” It feels like a huge announcement is on the horizon!
‘2025 we are very very ready for ya! See ya next year you bunch of legends!’
Last year, Olly Alexander humorously suggested that the upcoming Eurovision act representing the UK should ensure they find an excellent therapist before participating in the contest.
As a devoted admirer, I had the honor of representing my country, the UK, in Malmö, Sweden last May, singing for Years & Years, my band. My song, “Dizzy,” was a bit racy, and it seemed like things were going well after the jury vote. However, to my great disappointment, I received no votes from the public, leaving me puzzled.
After scoring only 46 points, UK fans expressed their disappointment on a platform called Twitter (formerly known as X), lamenting that the performer didn’t receive the recognition they felt they deserved. Some people considered this event to be a potentially damaging moment in the career of both the singer and actor.
While discussing his recent competition on The Graham Norton Show last month, the host posed a question to Olly: “Can you share some inspiring advice or words of encouragement, rather than cautioning against it?
Later on, the star playfully suggested, “Perhaps you should find an exceptional therapist,” which promptly caused the attendees and crowd to burst into laughter.
He added: ‘Yeah, good therapy as you will have a lot to talk about for years.’
Attempting to suppress a chuckle, Graham remarked, “Well, not exactly the words of encouragement and wisdom I was expecting, but still wise.
During Olly’s performance, there were murmurs suggesting potential sabotage, with allegations that his sound system malfunctioned, his singing was subpar, and there was even a last-minute cancellation during the final rehearsals.
Following the performance, distraught spectators expressed their discontent via messages such as: “I can’t understand why Olly Alexander received no points at all; you all deserved better”; “The UK earned zero public points in Eurovision2024 – my jaw dropped #Eurovision2024”.
I can’t help but empathize with Olly Alexander; it’s tough luck that he received zero public votes in the Eurovision contest. It certainly seems unfair! It appears public sentiment towards the U.K. might not be as positive these days. I believe the competition has shifted from a focus on music to politics now. Kudos to Switzerland for their win!
