UK Girl Group Remember Monday Wows in Eurovision Debut

Eurovision has shared sneak peek photographs of the United Kingdom’s act, Remember Monday, during their performance.

The band made up of Charlotte Steele, Holly-Anne Hull, and Lauren Byrne is set to become the first all-female group to represent country music after a gap of more than 25 years.

As a devoted fan, I’ll be joining the trio live at the Eurovision Contest happening on May 17th, where we’ll all be vying for victory with our powerhouse track, “What The Hell Just Happened?” On that day, we’ll take the stage together in pursuit of the grand title.

Initial photographs reveal the gathering adorned with a vibrant mix of outfits, sporting shades of soft yellows, blues, and pinks.

Lauren was stunning in a shimmering pair of wide-legged blue pants, featuring a corset-like long-sleeved top and cascading into a mini skirt made of mesh.

Instead of corsets, the other participants wore yellow and pink versions, while Charlotte chose knee-high heels and Holly-Anne preferred chunky stilettos.

As they played their song, the band found themselves immersed in it, with a vibrant blue light show illuminating the stage around them.

The stage setup appeared to incorporate a massive chandelier adorned with big candles, though it was partially concealed from view in the photographs.

Eurovision posted this caption: “You won’t believe the astonishing turn of events here! United Kingdom / Remember Monday – What on earth has transpired?

Fans quickly flooded the comment section with their opinions, stating: “Many people underestimate us, but we’re aiming high for a top 10 finish.

If Remember Monday manages to reach the top five in the competition, they’ve promised that everyone will get a tattoo. Otherwise, there might be a heartbreaking zero-point outcome for them.

The United Kingdom hasn’t had much success in this upcoming competition in Basel, Switzerland, coming up in May; in fact, Olly Alexander scored zero points there last year.

If Monday’s outcome mirrors that of Olly, they’ve chosen to ink the initials of their song, WTHJH?, as a tattoo on each team member’s body instead.

In a more optimistic view, the team has chosen to fulfill their promise if they finish among the top five contenders.

They stated on Instagram that if our team achieves a ranking of top five or higher, everyone on the team must have the initials WTHJH inked onto their bodies.

“We’re not giving up on this. Are you with me? Let’s make this happen! Even if we end up in last place and receive no points, it’s still a victory worth celebrating – I’d even get a tattoo to remember it by.

This group consists of three inseparable buddies, renowned for their powerful singing voices and exquisitely matched harmonies.

2019 saw Monday make their television debut, gaining popularity following their appearance in the Quarter-Finals of The Voice UK.

The band made it clear that they were entering Eurovision by appearing as guests on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show, which airs on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.

Following several weeks of anticipation, Scott announced, “A song isn’t worthy of being our Eurovision entry unless I deem it as such. I am incredibly excited to support the act representing us, and I believe you will find them captivating. They possess exceptional talent and a delightful personality.

On Friday, it was announced that Monday would be making their first TV appearance since securing a spot on The One Show. During this appearance, they’ll unveil the official music video for their latest track.

Reflect on the song “What The Hell Just Happened?” from Monday’s Eurovision entry, which narrates the consequences of an enjoyable night spent with friends.

For the first time since 1999, a girl band is set to represent the United Kingdom in this competition, marking their inaugural participation.

Currently available is a lively pop tune penned jointly by Billen Ted (Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan), Thomas Stengaard, and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard. It’s packed with vivacity, anticipation, and theatrics.

The girls are poised for success, having collaborated with several notable artists such as BRIT Award nominees Billen Ted, Little Mix, Anne Marie, MNEK, and Armin van Buuren, among others.

Notably, Thomas is recognized for penning Denmark’s triumphant 2013 Eurovision entry, “Only Teardrops.” On the other hand, Julie has made a name for herself as a successful multi-platinum songwriter and an innovative force in the experimental pop genre.

Beyond crafting their unique brand of uplifting pop music, the band Remember Monday has gained significant recognition for their catchy tunes that often go viral on social media platforms. They boast a dedicated fan base of over half a million and have amassed an impressive 11.3 million likes on TikTok alone.

The group has artfully created humorous a cappella versions of various musicians’ songs, spanning from Sabrina Carpenter, Queen, and Shania Twain, all the way to the soundtrack of Wicked.

On stage before a live audience is nothing new for the friends who’ve known each other since their days at sixth form back in 2013. They’re frequent fixtures in music festivals, and they even managed to sell out their entire UK tour last year for the first time.

In 2023, each girl gave up her day-to-day employment to focus entirely on their band career. Prior to this, they had already showcased their talents in various West End theater productions.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but marvel at the musical journey of Remember Monday so far! They’ve dropped two extraordinary EPs and a stunning twelve singles into the world. What sets them apart is their captivating three-part harmonies and their gift for crafting heartfelt, sincere, and authentically relatable songs.

As their radio, print, and media backing expanded, the band managed to secure a spot on Scott Mills’ Afternoon Program on BBC Radio 2 in 2024, gaining them nationwide airplay.

On The Voice, Jennifer Hudson, their coach, has consistently provided guidance and encouragement for the group. Last year, she even invited them to appear on her American talk show.
