UK Eurovision entry make surprising admission ahead of contest: “We’re not doing it for the points”

The UK’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest in 2025 has confessed an unexpected truth, stating that they are not participating to collect points.

Earlier this month, it was officially announced that Band Remember Monday has been selected as Britain’s representative. They will perform their song “What The Heck Just Occurred?” at the contest in Basel, Switzerland, which is scheduled for May.

In a conversation with Metro, they shared that they deliberately choose to ignore the betting odds for the UK, as they don’t want their live performance to be influenced by any means.

Holly-Anne Hull stated, “We’re not motivated by the points, but rather to rewatch the video and feel incredibly proud of our performance at that particular moment.

In the context of Eurovision, as Charlotte Steele pointed out, it’s worth remembering that many winners were considered longshots by the odds-makers. However, this shouldn’t be taken to mean much, Lauren Byrne humorously added, with a wink towards the betting community.

Holly-Anne disclosed a deeper motivation behind her desire to triumph, stating, “My spouse has wagered, as we’re currently in last place – he’s wagered that we’ll come out on top. Therefore, let’s do this for him.

Previously, the band had advanced to the quarterfinals of “The Voice UK” under the guidance of Jennifer Hudson.

Regarding their Eurovision song, the band expressed: “What The Hell Just Happened” perfectly encapsulates our current feelings! Everything feels incredibly surreal; our friendship has such a long history, and we honestly never thought we’d be participating in something like this.

As children, if someone asked us about our future aspirations, many of us might have said, “I want to become a pop star.” So, it’s amazingly surreal that we’re experiencing this dream come true as three great friends.

The Eurovision Song Contest of 2025 is scheduled to occur in Switzerland, as their act “Nemo” emerged victorious in the event held in Malmö, Sweden the previous year.

Eurovision 2025 will take place in Basel, Switzerland, in May 2025.
