Over the past four years, it’s become apparent that the Holmes family is facing some challenging times. The once harmonious relationship between the GB News anchor and two of his sons has unfortunately deteriorated significantly. Many events have transpired since the last photograph we saw – perhaps the most notable being the breakdown of their relationships.

In my role as a lifestyle advisor, I must share an unfortunate family dynamic: Eamonn, aged 65, finds himself in a challenging situation with his youngest child, Niall, who is among the three offspring from his first marriage to Gabrielle. Tragically, this rift deepens as Niall aligns with Eamonn’s ex-partner Ruth Langsford rather than his father, following their separation.

Last year, Ruth and Eamonn shared their decision to separate after being together for 27 years as a couple and 14 years of marriage. Now, it appears this already contentious divorce may escalate even further. A source close to the situation confided in me that the relationship between Eamonn and Ruth has deteriorated significantly. In simpler terms, things are not looking good between them.

As an ardent fan, it’s no secret to me that Jack, their 23-year-old son they share, has chosen to stand by his mom. Prior to the split announcement, Ruth took the initiative to establish Jack in a flat in Salford. A reliable source confided: ‘Tensions remain thick between him and his father.’

It’s believed that the relationships within Eamonn’s family may not improve as long as his current girlfriend, Katie Alexander, is present. There are rumors that some members of his family disapprove of his relationship with the marriage counselor who is 22 years younger than him.

It’s been reported that Eamonn and Katie, aged 43, initially interacted 12 years ago, allegedly through playful messages. There were rumors that in the year prior to their separation, Ruth discovered that Eamonn was giving extravagant gifts to Katie. However, both Eamonn and Katie, who were both married at the time, maintain that nothing inappropriate happened until after their marriages ended. Their continued relationship is said to have been met with disapproval by Eamonn’s family.

Katie is believed to be one of the few who can bring a smile to Eamonn lately, as his health issues continue to be a worry. Since that time, their relationship seems to have ended: Ruth has been residing at the family house, while Eamonn relocated to an apartment in Kingston, Surrey.

It’s now known that Ruth has been given the right to separate ownership of their shared six-bedroom house, purchased in 2014. This means Eamonn no longer holds any claim over Ruth’s portion of the property.

One source expressed that the situation is extremely distressing, saying, ‘It’s a real source of stress.’ This strain also seems to impact the dynamics within Eamonn’s family, particularly with his younger sons, who dislike seeing Ruth in anguish.

The perception Eamonn has hurt Ruth also hasn’t done him any favours with the public.

At one point, he was a surefire hit when magazines featured him on their covers, but his popularity has definitely waned since then. In November 2021, he was fired by ITV, leading to a heated verbal dispute between him and his former superiors. Eamonn accused them of being underhanded in handling his departure and hypocritical about ITV’s commitment to diversity.

Consequently, the network claimed their research indicated he wasn’t favored by viewers, resulting in his and Ruth’s dismissal, paving the way for Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary to take over their positions instead.
