Ugly Betty’s Eric Mabius Arrested After Shocking Bar Fight: Hair-Ripping Violence Uncovered!

Fresh, troubling information is emerging concerning the altercation at a Florida bar during early hours, which resulted in the apprehension of Eric Mabius, best known for his roles in Ugly Betty and on Hallmark.

I’ve been a die-hard fan since day one, but there’s no denying it: I’m absolutely smitten with the man who brought Daniel Meade to life on Ugly Betty. This captivating character graced our screens from 2006 to 2010 as part of ABC’s beloved series, a role that has left an indelible mark on me and countless others.

Mabius was arrested on early Thursday morning after a bar fight that involved two females.

According to TMZ, he is reportedly charged with shoving a woman to the floor and violently pulling out a clump of her hair from her head.

The law enforcement agency responsible for Nassau County, Florida – the sheriff’s department – was dispatched to a disturbance at a bar located in the city of Yulee, which is approximately a 25-minute drive north of Jacksonville within Nassau County.

At approximately 2:13 AM, the deputy from the sheriff’s office showed up and encountered a man and a woman who appeared to be extremely drunk. However, neither of them was recognized at the scene.

Inside the bar, it was reported that they were shouting at the patrons. Meanwhile, two deputies assisted a woman outside, where she was found lying on the ground. According to the report, despite being on the ground, she persisted in resisting.

In simpler terms, the report stated that the bartender and multiple customers informed a woman that she was acting inappropriately and asked her to depart. This action led the woman to respond by spitting at several of the patrons.

It was then that Mabius shoved a woman and another female to the floor, subsequently mounting the second woman and yanking her hair. Remarkably, he allegedly tore out chunks of her hair from the root.

Many bar patrons separated them, with Mabius behaving belligerent when the authorities arrives.

According to the arrest report, he ignored orders to sit down and instead moved behind one of the deputies. This action appeared to lead to his apprehension.

Mabius and both of the drunken women were arrested for battery and resisting without violence. 

The actor’s shock mugshot showing the star’s battered face was released earlier on Thursday.

He ended up being held in the Nassau County Jail and Detention Center around 6am, and according to TMZ, he’s charged with two minor offenses: battery and obstructing an officer without using force.

The photo revealed the celeb, who barely looked like himself, seeming bewildered, and there was something that seemed like a wound and a purplish bruise near his right eye. He was dressed in a prison uniform.

The picture showed a barely recognizable famous person looking confused, with what appeared to be an injury and purple discoloration around the area of his right eye. He was wearing a prison suit.

DailyMail.com has contacted a representative for Mabius for comment. 

The series titled “Ugly Betty” is an American show that revolves around Betty Suarez, who secures a position at a renowned fashion magazine against the odds, given her unconventional sense of style and appearance.

The show amassed 42 wins and 92 nominations across its four seasons, with two Golden Globe awards among them. One was given for Best Comedy Series, while the other went to Ferrera in 2007, recognizing her as Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy category.

Following the end of Ugly Betty, Mabius later took on a leading role in the Hallmark Channel’s television series titled Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

Despite its brief run spanning just one season, it led to an impressive series of television films featuring Mabius reprising his role as Oliver O’Toole in no less than 11 of these follow-up productions.

Additionally, he appeared in a seven-episode stint on NBC’s Chicago Fire back in 2015, and graced our screens in the 2019 Hallmark production titled It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.

Mabius early screen credits in the 1990s also include Chicago Hope, Party of Five and Get Real. 

His most recent screen credit was in 2023’s Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up.

In a 2008 interview, I shared my perspective that the triumph of Ugly Betty surpassed my initial expectations to some extent.

Mabius was wed to Ivy Sherman from 2006-2018 and the former couple share two sons aged 18 and 16. 

He debuted a new girlfriend in 2024 but has not publicly revealed her name.
