‘Ugly Betty’ alum Eric Mabius arrested on suspicion of battery in Florida bar brawl
Actor Eric Mabius, best known for his roles on “Ugly Betty” and various Hallmark films, found himself in police custody early on a Thursday morning in Nassau County, Florida.
53-year-old actor who has appeared in “Resident Evil” and “Welcome to the Dollhouse”, was arrested on two minor charges: battery and obstructing a law enforcement officer without using force, as per the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office records. His representatives have yet to comment on The Times’ request for a statement, as of Thursday.
In a bar approximately 25 miles north of Jacksonville, located in Yulee, Mabius was among the two individuals taken into custody following a physical altercation, as detailed in a police report reviewed by The Times.
According to the report, the event in question includes accusations of shoving, spitting, showing a lack of respect, and being intoxicated.

A house, belonging to actors Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, located in a private, secured area of Los Angeles, has been burglarized. The specific items that were stolen from the residence remain undisclosed at this time.
According to a report, a deputy stated that he saw a highly intoxicated pair – a female and a male. The heavily inebriated woman reportedly exhibited disrespectful behavior repeatedly, allegedly spat on others, and was asked to depart several times by both customers and the bartender.
In an unexpected turn of events at the cinematic premiere, I found myself in a heated altercation. A stern-faced woman demanded my departure, to which, under the influence, I reacted impulsively. Allegedly, I shoved not only the initial instigator but also an unfortunate bystander, Mabius, who later claimed to have retaliated, leading both of us women to the ground. Quite a scene it was, indeed.
The deputy stated that the second woman claimed Mabius forced himself onto her and yanked some of her hair out by its roots from her head.
According to the report, Mabius and a tipsy woman were escorted out of the bar by the authorities.
Beyond the tavern, Mabius displayed an escalating aggression and refused a straightforward instruction to take a seat on a nearby bench, as the deputy explained. The deputy added that the actor attempted to rise and approach him from behind while law enforcement officers were still investigating the situation. It was necessary for several deputies to guide Mabius back onto the bench before his arrest on suspicion of obstructing an officer without causing harm. As per the account, the woman whose hair was tugged opted not to file charges against anyone.
