UFC 305: Dricus Du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya fight week schedule

As a long-time fan who has followed the UFC since its humble beginnings, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming event in Perth, Australia! The city has been a bit of a UFC desert over the years, but that all changes with UFC 305. The fact that this is just the start of a multi-year partnership between the promotion and the city makes me think we’re in for a long run of amazing fights down under.

On Saturday, August 18th, the UFC is coming back to Australia! This time, it’s at the RAC Arena in Perth, marking the UFC’s third visit to this city, with the last event held in February 2023. Excitingly, this occasion will kick off a multi-year collaboration between the UFC and the city itself. The event promises a total of 12 fights, with one of them being a title fight as the main attraction.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement! Dricus du Plessis secured the UFC middleweight title at UFC 297 by besting Sean Strickland. Now, he’s ready to defend his crown for the first time at UFC 305 against Israel Adesanya, a two-time former champion. The tension between them has been building for months, and they’ll finally square off on Saturday, August 18. Du Plessis steps into the Octagon with the title belt, but Adesanya knows this turf like the back of his hand. Can’t wait to see this epic showdown unfold!

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but marvel at du Plessis’s unbeaten streak in his seven UFC bouts. Even though this is his initial gold-holding experience within the UFC, he has previously claimed EFC and KSW championship titles. Conversely, Adesanya boasts the second-longest title reign in UFC middleweight history, and many hail him as one of the most formidable champions of the contemporary era. The highly anticipated showdown between these two African fighters is set for UFC 305, marking a historic moment as it will be the first time two Africans fight for a title in the UFC.

As a gamer, I’m pumped for the next-to-last battle on the UFC 305 card – it’s going down between Kai Kara-France and Steve Erceg in the flyweight category! Both of us are coming off losses and we’re eager to bounce back and secure a win. This fight could be our ticket to climb up the rankings within the division, so it’s time to bring our A-game!

In this upcoming main event, you’ll see a lightweight bout between two highly-ranked fighters. Mateusz Gamrot, currently ranked fifth in the division, will face off against Dan Hooker from New Zealand, who is at number 11. Hooker fought last in July 2023 before his injury-related absence. On the other hand, Gamrot has won three fights in a row.

On the main event card, there’s a heavyweight fight lined up. This matchup includes the 11th-ranked fighter, Tai Tuivasa, and the 12th-ranked contender, Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Despite his massive popularity, Tuivasa is eagerly searching for a win. Rozenstruik has been alternating between victories and defeats, but following his latest triumph, he aims to keep that momentum going.

As a gamer, I’m pumped about the opening act for the main event – it’s going to be a fierce welterweight battle between Li Jingliang and Carlos Prates! Even though Jingliang has been part of the UFC family since 2014, he’s still working hard to establish himself as a top contender. Meanwhile, Prates is on fire, having remained undefeated since 2019, and he just recently joined the UFC after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series season seven. Bring it on!

Additionally, the initial rounds and preliminary bouts will showcase a variety of fights involving UFC fighters from Oceania. Notable names include Junior Tafa, Joshua Culibao, Casey O’Neil, among others.

Besides the UFC 305 fight night, this coming week offers a wealth of exciting experiences! Here’s what you can anticipate during the event at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia:
