Tyrese Gibson arrested after failing to make monthly $10K child support payments as he is held in contempt of court
As a dedicated follower of celebrity news and someone who has gone through my fair share of financial struggles myself, it’s always heartbreaking to see someone like Tyrese Gibson facing such a difficult situation. I can only imagine the stress he must be under, trying to juggle his professional and personal life while struggling to make ends meet.
Tyrese Gibson was arrested due to not meeting his court-ordered monthly $10,000 child support payments towards his ex, Samantha Lee.
According to TMZ, Gibson, who has a five-year-old daughter named Soraya with Lee, faced court contempt charges on Monday morning during a hearing regarding the same matter.
According to recent reports, Judge Kevin Farmer expressed displeasure due to Gibson’s failure to comply with the court order requiring him to start making $10,000 monthly child support payments, which became effective in April 2023.
On Monday, the farmer found Gibson in disrespect of the court, leading to the Fast & Furious star being restrained with handcuffs by the court officer and escorted out of the courtroom, according to TMZ’s report.
The judge gave Gibson an opportunity to settle the matter without serving jail time, on condition that he pays a total of $73,000. This amount encompasses Samantha’s legal fees, which sum up to $7,500.
According to TMZ, Gibson is reportedly making payments to Lee, yet these payments have not matched the $10,000 amount that the judge instructed him to start paying last year.
The outlet reports Gibson has been paying his ex around $2200 every month as of 2023.
Insiders told TMZ Gibson is currently in the process of sorting out the $73K payment.
