Tyra Banks reveals the VERY surprising Aussie band she’s a huge fan of – as the US supermodel stuns while presenting at the ARIA Awards

Tyra Banks surprised everyone at the ARIA Awards on Wednesday by sharing her love for a little-known Australian band.

The 51-year-old American supermodel surprised everyone at the Hordern Pavilion when she took the stage to announce the winner of the Best Pop Release award – and shared her love for a famous children’s musical group.

Tyra addressed the crowd, saying she felt wonderful and truly welcomed by everyone.

She added: ‘I met the Wiggles and I’m so excited!’

The model, originally from California, shared that she’s been living in Sydney for the past few years and has started her own ice cream shop, called SMiZE & DREAM.

She joked that she was in a terrible mood after her ice cream melted, right before announcing Thelma Plum as the winner for her song, ‘I’m Sorry, Now Say It Back’.

Tyra turned heads at the event in a chic black jumpsuit with a low neckline, reminiscent of Olivia Newton-John’s famous look in the movie Grease.

She completed her look with bold, chunky diamond bracelets and rings, making sure she stood out at the private event.

For the past year and a half, Tyra has been living in Australia, secretly running a new start-up company. Most of her fans are unaware of this venture.

For the past two years, the American supermodel has been traveling frequently between Los Angeles and Sydney while building her ice cream business.

Tyra Banks recently shared a secret to fitting in with people wherever she goes, according to The Daily Telegraph.

She shared that her family loves spending time at their local shopping centre, enjoying typical Australian activities.

‘We’ll get some breakfast in the mall, then we’ll go to a Hoyts cinema,’ she said.

Okay, so my perfect day usually starts with a movie and some ice cream at the cinema – total comfort food! After that, I love to treat myself to a foot massage, because self-care is key. Then, it’s time for lunch, and finally, a little retail therapy – I’m either hitting up Target or Kmart, depending on what I need. It’s all about finding those little moments of joy throughout the day!

Tyra went on to say she loves the Australian Kmart.

Even though she’s modeled for high-end brands like Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Dior, the supermodel surprisingly described the Kmart in Australia as ‘fancy’.

She added that after a bit of shopping, she and her family will go and do the groceries.

She explained they’d shop at all the grocery stores – Coles, Woolworths, Harris Farm, and any others – which would take a whole day at the mall, something she doesn’t typically do in America.

Tyra pointed out that traditional American malls are becoming less popular because people now focus more on buying things they desire rather than essential items.
