Tyler, the Creator is selling $5 tickets to watch him lip sync at Intuit

As a devoted fan who has followed Tyler, the Creator’s musical journey since his early days with Odd Future, I must admit, this latest announcement has left me utterly intrigued and slightly bewildered. Here we have a man who has graced us with groundbreaking albums like “Igor,” “Call Me If You Get Lost,” and now “Chromakopia,” yet he chooses to perform his new album by standing in the middle of the venue, lip-syncing.

Tyler, the Creator is bringing his new album — and only his new album — to Inglewood’s Intuit Dome.

On an early Thursday post, the multi-genre artist based in Los Angeles announced his intention to host an event this coming Sunday night at the recently opened Clippers arena. During this event, he will perform his forthcoming album “Chromakopia” in its entirety for the first time.

I won’t be giving a live performance, but instead, I’ll be center stage, mouthing along to the fresh tunes echoing through the venue. By the way, the ticket price for this event is $5.

The “Chromakopia” album will be available on streaming platforms from Monday at 3 a.m. (Pacific Time). This is Tyler’s eagerly awaited successor to his 2021 release, “Call Me if You Get Lost,” which was honored as the best rap album at the 64th Grammy Awards. (Incidentally, he also won this category for his previous LP, 2019’s “Igor”. However, he clarified in a backstage interview at the Grammys in 2020 that “Igor” wasn’t strictly a rap album.)

Tyler’s performance at the Intuit Dome is part of a series of events, much like those by Kanye West, that have been creatively conceptualized. One example is Kanye and his collaborator Ty Dolla Sign wandering around a stage during the Rolling Loud festival in Inglewood in March. The songs from their “Vultures 1” album were played through a sound system as they moved about.

On Wednesday, I excitedly shared details about my upcoming world tour in 2025, titled “Chromakopia.” I’ve got some incredible news for fellow music enthusiasts – next month, you can catch me live at the annual Camp Flog Gnaw festival right here at Dodger Stadium! The lineup is absolutely stacked with amazing artists like Playboi Carti, Omar Apollo, Erykah Badu, the Marías, André 3000, Vince Staples, Tommy Richman, and Sexyy Red, among others. I can hardly wait to perform for you all!
