As a long-time fan of Tyler, the Creator, I was absolutely disappointed and surprised by his sudden decision to drop out of headlining at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands music festivals this summer. I had eagerly anticipated seeing him live on those stages after his electrifying performance at Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out — Ken & Friends” show at the Forum last week.
Tyler, the Creator has announced that he won’t be performing as a headliner at Lollapalooza and Outside Lands music festivals coming up this summer. His representatives have remained silent about the reason behind his withdrawal from these high-profile gigs.
Tyler, aged 33, was scheduled to be the main act at two music festivals happening in early August. However, he expressed regret to his fans through a post on X, made public on Thursday.
He expressed regret that he couldn’t fulfill a promise he made, feeling disappointed knowing how eager people were. This isn’t an attractive situation at all. Please forgive him or give him a hard time when you meet him in person. With love.
As a movie buff, I’d put it like this: I didn’t get any extra information about why Tyler decided to leave. His rep spoke to The Times and stated that they wouldn’t be providing any additional comments right now.
About a few minutes after Tyler made his announcement, Lollapalooza announced that Chicago’s summer would be “sizzling hot” with Megan Thee Stallion replacing Tyler on the August 1st spot.
Similarly, Sabrina Carpenter was announced as Tyler’s replacement at Outside Lands on Aug. 10 in San Francisco, as he was unable to perform due to personal matters.
The announcement emerged the following day after Tyler made an appearance on Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out — Ken & Friends” concert at Inglewood’s Forum. This event, celebrating Juneteenth, saw Tyler performing his hit track “Earfquake,” with an enthusiastic audience singing the lyrics back to him in unison.
Last night, after the performance, he expressed in X how breathtaking it was to witness the entire city unite. His earliest rap compositions were penned at home, located on Crenshaw Drive and 82nd Street, just a short walk away from the Forum.
In April, Tyler was the main act for two Saturdays at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2024. Later in October, he is scheduled to perform at the Austin City Limits Festival. Chris Stapleton and Dua Lipa will be the headliners on the first two days (Friday and Saturday), and Tyler will take the stage on the third day (Sunday).
