Tyla Slams Britney Spears Outfit Copycats at Coachella!

Tyla commented on the latest comparisons between Britney Spears‘ outfits, following her performance at Coachella during the second weekend on Friday.

This week, the singer known as “The Water songstress,” who is 23 years old and performed with few modesty barriers during Weekend One of the annual festival, was seen wearing an outfit reminiscent of Britney Spears’ iconic ensemble from the 2001 MTV VMAs.

Conversely, the star leaped to X to dismiss similarities and assert that her group’s style was not modeled after the Princess of Pop.

Tyla responded, ‘I love her, yet I found her outfit quite stylish…not my inspiration.’ (This maintains the original meaning and flow while making it more natural and easier to read.)

A different social media user opined about the singer, stating, “In my opinion, she’s a imitator and overly arrogant.” The award-winning artist replied to this remark by saying, “In my view, it would be best if you kept quiet.

During the second weekend of Coachella, Tyla wore a pair of mini denim shorts with tasseled bead fringes and green feather accents.

In addition, she donned a lively green bralette adorned with intricate purple floral patterns, as well as a silvery body chain that encircled her well-defined waist and upper torso.

Instead, let’s rephrase it like this: Tyla chose long hair extensions and went for a vibrant makeup style, featuring a hot pink eye shadow.

The singer finished her ensemble with a stylish pair of knee-high, gray boots, featuring a textured crocodile pattern on their exterior.

In the year 2001, Britney Spears performed at the MTV Video Music Awards and sang the words to her popular song “I’m a Slave for You.

As she carried a big snack on her back and kept singing, the performance took on an iconic status.

As an ardent admirer, let me share my awe-struck observation: I, too, found myself captivated by her choice of attire, a mesmerizing green bralette paired elegantly with vibrant blue shorts adorned with intricate embellishments. The flowing fabric on the sides added an ethereal touch to the entire ensemble, making it a sight to behold!

Other enthusiasts expressed their varying views about Tyla’s outfit at Coachella on platform X, with one individual writing, ‘You’re pretending to belong here, leave please.’ (This maintains the original sentiment while using more polite language and rephrasing the phrase for clarity.)

One person wrote, ‘I think your stylist might have been inspired when they put that outfit together, and I thought it looked adorable on you,’ and another replied, ‘It seems like someone was definitely inspired by the outfit, even if it wasn’t you!’

I don’t understand, what connection are you drawing there? If you believed it was a bird (fly), then you copied its appearance (wore something similar)… isn’t that an odd source of inspiration?

One said, ‘It’s evident someone drew inspiration. Stop with the falsehoods, my friend,’ and another commented, ‘Is this a prank? They’re wearing the exact same attire.’

One X user playfully commented that their hairstyle looked like it was inspired by Britney Spears, as they added a laugh-out-loud emoji, while another fan expressed surprise and stated that the style seemed to be an exact replica. In simpler terms, the first user suggested that their hairstyle reminded them of Britney Spears, while the second fan questioned whether it was an identical copy.

Translation: Someone wrote, ‘Inspiration is what that term means. You admired the outfit, which suggests you found inspiration in it.’

Instead, other supporters defended Tyla, with one saying, ‘frankly, I believe it was just a fortunate coincidence that made it so memorable.’

1. “Apparently, Britney wasn’t feeling the performance at all. It was TYLA instead.”

2. “Britney seemed to be off during the performance. It was actually TYLA performing.”

3. “The performance didn’t seem like it was Britney; it was someone else, TYLA.”

Although the “Been Thinking” singer disputes claims that her style was influenced by Britney’s earlier image, it is known that Tyla has expressed admiration for Britney Spears in the past.

In a recent interview with Billboard last March, she was asked who among women in the music industry has had a significant impact on her.

The star replied, “Tems is quite impressive. Her accomplishments have been truly inspiring. She reminds me of Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, and Aaliyah.

In the previous year, comparisons were drawn between Tyla and the renowned artist behind the Toxic hit – similarities like her Water music video were pointed out.

In essence, what the performer said to Dazed Magazine is that more often than not, when people mention these references, they’re actually nonexistent.

She clarified to the media outlet, ‘It’s not about making the video identical to that. It’s becoming monotonous now.’

On April 11, Tyla also performed a set amid weekend one of the 2025 Coachella Music Festival.

She drew attention while sporting a white bralette top, one strap hanging off her arm, paired with tiny shorts and slashed fishnet leggings.

Last spring, I couldn’t believe my ears when the radiant star unveiled her captivating, self-named debut studio album on March 22nd. It was pure magic, filled with a stunning 14 enchanting tracks that have remained etched in my heart ever since!

During a recent conversation with Nylon this past month, the artist hinted at potential plans for a new album.

Whenever I have a chance to be at the studio, I’m always there. At present, I’m engrossed in a brand new project. I’m thrilled about it as I may have loved my first album dearly, but I feel like a whole new individual now.

She remarked, “Things that transpired have compelled me to develop rapidly. Moreover, I tend to get restless quickly.

I can’t wait to discover this fresh take on myself, listen to its sound, and simply enjoy the process – let’s infuse some fun back into music again!

Next year, I aspire to be the finest artist I can possibly become, that’s what I long for deep within.

When there’s a significant amount of stress in your life, it can make you feel as though you must meet others’ expectations. A year from now, my aim is to create and do whatever I desire, unfettered by such pressures.
