Two years after breaking down in front of thousands at Glastonbury, Lewis Capaldi is to make his big stage return at this year’s festival
Two years ago, Lewis Capaldi departed from Glastonbury Town feeling dejected following a public breakdown. However, the Mail on Sunday has learned that he will be back on the main stage of this year’s festival for his grand comeback.
28-year-old Capaldi has been scheduled to take the “secret spot” on the Pyramid Stage during the Friday of the five-day event at Worthy Farm in Somerset, following Alanis Morissette’s performance, towards the end of this month.
In 2023, the well-known performer famous for songs such as “Someone You Loved” faced difficulties finishing his set at Glastonbury Festival due to an unexpected episode of Tourette’s syndrome.
As a devoted admirer, I’ve found myself compelled to share that Capaldi experienced a severe episode of a neurological disorder characterized by unexpected and recurring sensory triggers, which unfortunately prevented him from performing his hit tracks.
Instead of Capaldi grumbling about his voice giving out, the crowd amplified his performance with enthusiastic renditions of his most popular songs.
He left the stage, saying: ‘Glastonbury, I’m really sorry. I’m a bit annoyed with myself’.
Later on, Capaldi stated that he intends to ‘step away for some time ahead’ since it seems clear that he requires ‘significant additional time to focus on improving both my mental and physical well-being’.
He called it ‘the most difficult [decision] of my life’.

Capaldi, who was scheduled for a global tour, stated that he required some time to “get used to” or “acclimate to” the effects of having Tourette’s Syndrome.
In a documentary titled “How I’m Feeling Now,” which was broadcast in April 2023, he detailed his battles with the condition, about two months prior to his collapse during the Glastonbury Festival.
After my secret show at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh last month, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be back at Worthy Farm – it’s been a while since I last graced a stage.
Title Performer Tom Walker mentioned that Capaldi chose to join the intimate event at the last moment, and spectators were invited to stay put for an unexpected artist.
During the show, spectators were instructed not to record any part of the stage setup using their mobile devices. Instead, these devices were kept in sealed bags throughout the entire performance, according to the BBC’s report.
At the fundraising event, Capaldi sang a total of six songs, among them his popular 2019 single “Someone You Loved,” to support the Suicide Prevention charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
2019 saw the debut album release by Peter Capaldi, hailing from Bathgate, West Lothian – titled “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.
In 2023, his sophomore album, titled “Broken by Desire to be Heavenly Sent,” shot straight to the top of the charts as the speediest seller of the year, moving an impressive 95,000 copies.
