The award-winning films Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle, directed by the renowned Hayao Miyazaki, will be shown in all their splendor on the big screen again soon.

Initially, we have “Spirited Away”. This captivating movie tells the story of a young girl named Chihiro, who finds herself in a magical realm inhabited by extraordinary creatures. To endure and thrive, she learns to depend on herself. The screening of this enchanting film will begin on December 26th.

The movie titled “Howl’s Moving Castle” tells a story of a woman afflicted by a curse, who ends up working under a volatile sorcerer in preparation for an impending conflict. This intriguing tale continues on April 11, 2025.

It’s worth noting that Elysian Film Group is responsible for the recent UK and Irish rereleases, as they have been instrumental in bringing movies like “The Boy and the Heron” and the “My Neighbour Totoro” rerelease to cinemas over the past year.

Given that the aforementioned movies offered screenings in both English-dubbed and Japanese-subtitled versions, it’s plausible that Spirited Away and Howl’s will also offer this option. Notably, these films, produced by Disney, have well-known actors providing the voices in their respective dubbed versions.

In the animated film Spirited Away, we hear Susan Egan, known for her role as Meg in Hercules, David Ogden Stiers from Beauty and the Beast, and John Ratzenberger of Toy Story fame lending their voices. In contrast, the voice cast of Howl’s includes stars like Christian Bale, Emily Mortimer, and up-and-coming actor Josh Hutcherson.

If you’d like to escape into the vibrant realms of Ghibli while at home as the weather turns chillier and darker, Netflix UK and Ireland has just increased its library with the inclusion of “The Boy and the Heron” and the heart-wrenching “Grave of the Fireflies”.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel a thrill of anticipation knowing that the legendary game designer, Miyazaki, is secretly crafting his next masterpiece. Last year, his longtime associate, Toshio Suzuki, confirmed the news, hinting at a future filled with exciting possibilities.
