Two Star Wars Shows Set to Wow Disney+ in 2026!
For the year 2026, the initial Star Wars series on Disney+ have been unveiled, featuring two brand-new, thrilling projects that fans can anticipate!
Visions. Next year, Lucasfilm plans to build upon this success by unveiling a range of fresh TV content. The specifics of what’s to come are gradually becoming clear due to several announcements made at the 2025 Star Wars Celebration event.
What Star Wars 2026 Slate Looks Like
– Andor: A prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story that focuses on Cassian Andor’s life as a spy during the formative years of the Rebellion.
– The Acolyte: An original series set in the final days of the High Republic era, following a young female Jedi as she investigates a series of crimes.
– Lando: A limited series centered around the charismatic smuggler and gambler Lando Calrissian.
– The Mandalorian Season 3: The continuation of the adventures of Mando and Grogu (Baby Yoda).
– Willow: A sequel to the classic film, following the further adventures of sorcerer Willow Ufgood.
– The Book of Boba Fett: An upcoming spin-off series centered around Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, exploring their criminal exploits in the underworld.
Maul: Shadow Lord
Star Wars is expanding its thriving animation dominion with a fresh TV animation titled “Darth Maul: The Shadow Lord“. This series, unveiled during Star Wars Celebration, is set for release in the year 2026.
It’s been verified that the character “Maul: Shadow Lord” will be voiced by Sam Witwer, who has previously played Darth Maul in various Star Wars productions such as “Star Wars Rebels” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars“.
According to reports, the storyline is set post-Clone Wars and focuses on Maul’s efforts to reestablish his criminal empire on an undisturbed planet away from Imperial control.
Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi
2026 will see the debut of a standalone limited series that’s a spin-off from the animated anthology “Star Wars: Visions”. This new series will delve deeper into the storyline presented in Season 1’s episode ‘The Ninth Jedi’, which is itself set to receive a continuation in the third season of “Star Wars Visions”, scheduled for release in October 2025.
Afterward, the tale of Kara and Juro will progress in the 2026 The Ninth Jedi series. Unlike the brief episodes in the Visions animated shorts, this series will feature more extensive stories.
Kenji Kamiyama, both writer and director, shared with fans at Star Wars Celebration that in ‘Child of Hope’, the Season 3 episode, Kara embarks on a journey to find her father after it ends. The narrative about this search will unfold further in Star Wars Visions Presents: The Ninth Jedi, a series delving into the roots of the lightsabers that change colors, an invention by Kara’s father.
Ahsoka – Season 2
Production for Ahsoka Season 2 is now underway, suggesting that fans might expect its release around 2026 as well.
In the live-action follow-up series of “Star Wars: Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: Rebels,” several beloved animated characters will come to life, with Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. As we learned at Star Wars Celebration, Season 2 of “Ahsoka” will bring back Hayden Christensen to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka’s former Jedi master.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
Initially introduced on Disney+, where it achieved three impressive seasons, “The Mandalorian” starring Pedro Pascal as Mando and featuring Grogu is now set to make a transition to the cinematic world with the upcoming film titled “Mandalorian & Grogu“.
As of now, the only verified movie in the Star Wars universe slated for 2026 that has been announced is “The Mandalorian and Grogu”, set to hit theaters on May 22.
The film picks up where the Disney+ series left off and introduces some thrilling new characters such as Jeremy Allen White’s character, Rotto the Hutt, along with Sigourney Weaver taking on an enigmatic new role in the Star Wars universe.
