Two Old Mark Wahlberg Action Movies Suddenly Explode in Popularity on Streaming
Mark Wahlberg initially gained popularity as a rapper known as Marky Mark and the frontman of hip-hop group Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch during the early ’90s. He later transitioned to acting, making his film debut in “Renaissance Man” in 1994. However, it wasn’t until his role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Boogie Nights” that Wahlberg truly established himself as a skilled actor and has continued to hold onto his fame since then.
Mark Wahlberg has played numerous roles since his days in “Boogie Nights”, yet action movies have consistently appeared in his career. Lately, he starred as the primary antagonist in Mel Gibson’s “Flight Risk”, which was released earlier this year. Among his other recent films, you’ll find titles that fit the action or adventure genre such as “The Union”, “The Family Plan”, and “Arthur the King”. Interestingly, two of Wahlberg’s past action movies have reemerged, gaining popularity on streaming platforms once more.
Shooter And Four Brothers Are Climbing The Charts
Both Are 2000s Action Movies
Both “Shooter” and “Four Brothers” are currently performing well on streaming platforms. “Four Brothers”, directed by John Singleton, is a thrilling action mystery about four adopted brothers who seek justice when their mother is murdered during a robbery. The film made $92.3 million at the box office against an estimated budget of $45 million. On the other hand, “Shooter”, released two years later, spotlights Mark Wahlberg as a skilled sniper trying to prevent a presidential assassination. “Shooter” managed to earn slightly more than “Four Brothers”, with a gross of $95.6 million.
Currently, both “Four Brothers” and “Shooter” are performing strongly on streaming platforms. As per FlixPatrol’s latest report, “Four Brothers” is currently positioned at number 2 in Paramount+’s top 10 movies in the United States today, April 29th. On the other hand, “Shooter” holds the fourth spot. Notably, “Four Brothers” has climbed up the ranks, having been at numbers 6 and 4 on April 27th and 28th, respectively.
What This Means For Mark Wahlberg
This Trend Highlights The Actor’s Popularity
On a noteworthy note, Shooter has made its debut in the top 10 charts for the first time in quite some time. It’s likely that the boost in popularity was fueled by Four Brothers’ earlier presence on the chart. In other words, people who were exploring Four Brothers might have been suggested other films featuring Mark Wahlberg. Regardless of how it happened, this is a positive development for Wahlberg as it demonstrates that audiences are intrigued by his acting. With several upcoming movies like The Family Plan 2 and By Any Means in the pipeline, this surge in interest comes at an opportune moment.
