I’m still really enjoying Landman, which is available on Paramount+, but one thing is consistently frustrating me. I was excited to see what would happen with Ainsley (Michelle Randolph) and Angela (Ali Lauter) this season, but their storylines seem stuck in the same pointless drama they were dealing with last year. If this continues throughout Season 2, it’ll definitely change my overall opinion of the show.

Angela And Ainsley Are Stuck Doing Nonsense
As I mentioned before, the storyline with Angela and Ainsley is frustrating. Their scenes with the retirement home residents feel pointless and silly. While it seems like they’re meant to provide some humor, it’s wasting the potential of these two characters. Before the season began, I worried the writers didn’t have a clear plan for them, and that’s unfortunately proven to be the case.
Everyone on the show is dealing with a lot of pressure. I’m particularly worried about Cooper and Ariana, as their relationship is really struggling. Cami is grieving her husband and facing challenges alone, and Tommy is, as usual, battling problems in both his work and personal life. As for Ainsely and Angela, they had a brief scare with the law, but Tommy quickly resolved things for them.

I Don’t Even Want To Watch Their Scenes
I’m starting to get really frustrated with Landman, and it’s actually making me enjoy the show less. I caught myself mindlessly scrolling on my phone during some scenes instead of actually watching, which is a terrible feeling. I really don’t want this to become a show where I only get invested in a couple of characters. Tommy is easily one of my favorites on TV right now, but the last episode made me realize I was only excited when he was on screen. It’s a bit worrying, honestly.
The show has a lot of promising characters, like Ainsley and Angela, and it would be better to explore them all instead of focusing on just one person. Cami’s storyline is engaging, but Demi Moore doesn’t appear in many scenes, similar to last season. I’m really enjoying the developing relationship between Ariana and Cooper, as I’ve mentioned before. This season, Sam Elliott joins the cast as Tommy’s father, which has potential, and we haven’t even seen Andy Garcia yet – his character sounds truly frightening.
Angela and Ainsley’s storyline feels unnecessary and is hurting the show overall. I don’t want them to disappear, though – I’d actually like to see their characters developed further. I was really looking forward to Landman Season 2, and I’m hoping the show can still reach its full potential.
