Twisters fans fume that director Lee Isaac Chung should be 'called before Congress' as they discover a HUGE scene was cut from the disaster film

As a film critic who has been following the industry for over two decades, I have seen my fair share of blockbuster movies that promise excitement and thrill but often fall short. However, Twisters, the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 classic Twister, has left me utterly mesmerized.

Supporters of “Twisters” were outraged, calling for director Lee Isaac Chung to appear before Congress, upon learning that a significant scene had been omitted from the disaster movie.

An American movie portrays the experiences of storm chasers Tyler Owens, played by Glen Powell, and Kate Carter, acted by Daisy Edgar-Jones, encountering their most formidable tornado.

Tyler and Kate develop a strong bond despite the turmoil around them. Their heartwarming airport goodbye, featuring a cherished kiss, was unfortunately cut from the movie before its release on Friday.

A solo film follow-up to the 1996 release “Twister,” which raked in approximately $200 million at the box office and garnered mostly favorable critiques from critics.

Instead, devotees of Warner Bros. Pictures’ movie shared their displeasure on X, previously known as Twitter, about not witnessing the kissing scene.

Disappointed viewers wrote: ‘WHY DID THEY CUT THE KISS’;

I was taken aback when Glen and Daisy’s characters didn’t share a kiss in the final scene. But I later discovered that they did film a kiss, only for it to be left out… Please consider releasing the extended cut, Lee Isaac Chung.

‘THEY CUT THE KISS IN TWISTERS?!!? This movie has no b**ls, guys’;

“This kiss wasn’t in the movie… Why is it a problem for you specifically, Lee Isaac Chung?” (Using natural and easy to read language)

‘I need Lee Isaac Chung to be called before Congress and asked about this’;

I’m really puzzled by that decision. I saw an early preview of the movie back in March during a test screening, and they had a brilliant ending scene then. It left me feeling satisfied and emotional, but for some reason, the final version of the movie ended differently. With my personal experience of being moved by the earlier version, it’s hard for me to understand why they would change such a powerful moment.

‘Probably my biggest complaint about the film is the lack of intimate catharsis with GlenDaisy’;

Some held an opposing viewpoint, expressing it as: “I believe it’s more fitting that they don’t kiss in Twister… chasing tornados instead of having sex suits these rebels better.”

In the movie, that scene didn’t occur; instead, Glen leaves a noticeable impact on his co-stars. His charisma extends to numerous leading ladies in Hollywood.

I watched Twister and was pleasantly surprised. The special effects were impressive, and there were plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. However, the portrayal of the tornadoes seemed a tad exaggerated. I’m relieved that the film didn’t include a clichéd romantic scene between Tyler and Kate. I dislike how love stories often force their way into disaster movies.

Critics have labeled “Twister” as the must-see summer blockbuster of this year, with its gripping tornado story hitting theaters nearly three decades after the initial release.

Since the release of “Normal People’s Daisy” and “Top Gun: Maverick” Glen’s films in 2022, these movies have been widely praised as providing an exceptional cinematic experience, surpassing that of “Maverick” which grossed over $1 billion at the box office.

The destructive tornados in the film tearing through Oklahoma are similar to the chaos caused by Godzilla, extraterrestrial invaders, or the Great White shark in Jaws, with no one, not even renowned meteorologist Kate, suggesting they could be linked to climate change. Instead, these natural disasters evoke images of monstrous creatures wreaking havoc.

Lee Isaac Chung’s film, titled “That Said,” brims with vigor and intensity as the character Kate, in search of redemption after a past tragedy, teams up with an intriguing and charismatic figure named Tyler, who styles himself as a “tornado-wrangler.” Together, they aim to prove that tornadoes can be shrunk through scientific means.
