Twisted Sister has canceled all shows celebrating their 50th anniversary after lead singer Dee Snider left the band due to health issues.
The heavy metal band announced on Instagram Thursday that all concerts starting April 25th in São Paulo and continuing through the summer have been canceled. This is because singer Dee Snider has unexpectedly resigned due to ongoing health problems that prevent him from performing at his previous level.
Dee Snider explained in a statement that he doesn’t see any other option but to continue performing with the same energy. He said he refuses to slow down and would prefer to stop altogether rather than perform at a lower level than he used to.

The band said they’ll know what’s next for Twisted Sister in the coming weeks.
A recent announcement explained that Dee Snider’s decades of energetic and intense performances have negatively affected his physical and mental health.
A statement posted on Dee Snider’s Instagram explained that he’s had multiple surgeries over the years to deal with his arthritis. Because of the condition, he’d been limited to performing just a few songs at a time and was often in pain while doing so.
To make matters worse, Dee recently learned that his lifelong dedication to music has damaged his heart. Because of this, he can no longer perform with the same energy and passion he has for decades.
