The final episode of Twisted Metal Season 2 aired recently, sparking speculation among fans about the possibility of discovering Calypso’s backstory in a potential Season 3. Twisted Metal Season 2 premiered on Peacock on July 21, 2025, and has been generally well-received by both critics and audiences. Who Calypso is will be explained if Twisted Metal Season 3 is renewed

According to Michael Jonathan Smith, the showrunner of Twisted Metal, there’s a possibility that Season 3 could delve deeper into Calypso’s backstory if it is renewed.

During an interview with The Direct, Smith was questioned about the hints given about Calypso’s origin in the Season 2 finale and the amount revealed to viewers. In response, Smith stated, “Our goal is definitely to explore further in Season 3; we want to delve deeper for sure… We’ve discussed a lot about wanting to emphasize the supernatural aspects this season.

He went on to say, “Then, we asked ourselves, ‘What do we aspire to visualize in this context?’ and ‘Which single image could best symbolize our concept?’ The most thrilling thought was of him escaping from a well.

Smith explained that they deliberately chose to reveal only select portions of Calypso’s character to create an enigmatic and intriguing aura around him. He stated, “We didn’t want to give too much away. We preferred to hint at it, as we wanted the finale to be the time when we would definitively confirm that there is more to this character. Throughout the series, we’ve been subtly suggesting this.

Peacock hasn’t confirmed yet if Twisted Metal will be renewed for Season 3.
