A five-part TV series based on Graham Norton’s novel Forever Home is in the works, and the cast has been revealed. The story centers around a woman who discovers her husband might be a murderer.
When Carol Crottie finds a body in her basement, she begins to suspect her husband, Robert, isn’t who she thought he was. His story about his first wife running away now seems false, and his strong desire to keep their house makes sense in a disturbing new way.
The cast for the project has been announced and includes Douglas Henshall (known for Shetland), Amy Nuttall (Downton Abbey), Denise Welch (Waterloo Road), James Baxter, Kevin Whately (Lewis), Samantha Bond (The Marlow Murder Club), Lewis Cope (Emmerdale), Shane Zaza (Big Boys), and Jenny Walser (Heartstopper).
What to Read Next
Clara Salaman is writing the screenplay for an adaptation of ‘Too Close,’ and Norton will serve as an executive producer on the project.
When I started working on Forever Home, I was really struck by the thought of someone having to downsize later in life, and all the tricky ‘what if’ questions that come up when you’ve built a life – and relationships – over many years. That’s what really sparked the idea for me.

The story quickly became a humorous and surprisingly dark adventure, packed with comical situations. It’s great to see Carol’s complex and fascinating story finally brought to life as a movie script.
Kirstie Macdonald, Creative Director at FilmNation, said she was immediately captivated by Graham Norton’s funny and well-written novel, Forever Home, and wanted to adapt it for the screen.

We’re excited to share this captivating story with its many surprises, hidden truths, and heartfelt moments with viewers.
This isn’t the first time one of the author’s books has been turned into a TV show. Four years ago, ITV aired a version of Holding. The crime drama starred Conleth Hill, known from Game of Thrones, alongside Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls) and Charlene McKenna (Peaky Blinders), and was directed by the acclaimed comedian Kathy Burke.
Forever Home will air on 5.
The latest issue of Living Legends magazine is now available, and it’s a special tribute to Dolly Parton! You can find “Dolly at 80” in shops or order it online for only £8.99.
