TV star William McNamara details his heroic work saving animals in LA fires
Actor William McNamara is taking steps to ensure that the four-legged animals affected by the Pacific Palisades fire receive safety care.
59-year-old actor is visiting sites alongside members of the Animal Advocacy Network and Viva Global Rescue, posting social media updates about their mission to find animals affected by the tragic fires, using video footage.
During a conversation with TMZ, a seasoned performer known for roles in series like NYPD Blue and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, shared his reasons behind personally embarking on rescue operations instead of dialing 911 for assistance.
‘You don’t want to be a burden,’ he said about taking resources away from those who might need it.
The Actor Known as “Out of Hand” has extensive experience with animals, as demonstrated by his actions during the 2018 Woolsey fire in Malibu, where he played a crucial role in rescuing many animals, including Grammy winner Diane Warren’s pigs.
According to McNamara, the true heroes in this situation are a man named AC, or Aaron Christiansen, who is part of the Animal Advocacy Network. This was stated after he posted a video about a cat rescue operation on Instagram last Friday.
Accompanied by Maya and Kalli from Viva Global Rescue, he was the lone figure who, since Wednesday, has successfully rescued 313 animals using their horse trailers,” he stated.
The Amber Road actor shared that ranches located beyond the fire-affected area have been willing to provide refuge for the many displaced animals.
‘People immediately came to the rescue.’
The equestrian officers from the Santa Monica Police Department, upon rescuing their horses located in Agoura Hills, arranged for their trailers to be returned, providing assistance.
‘Everybody pitches in,’ McNamara said. ‘You’d be amazed.’
‘The animal community… they are the best people on planet Earth and they will do it.’
Essentially, the rescuers have been working non-stop since the fire began, which has made these past days quite exhausting for them.
As a devoted admirer, let me share that I, like none before me, have remained wide-awake through the night, forsaking my bed thus far. The American Desert star confides that the flames left searing marks on his visage and that his eyes and throat have been troubled by the harsh effects of the flames and the smoke they produced.

‘We’re always looking out for each other and it’s a great community.’ he said.
‘We really come together in times of need and emergencies.’
McNamara has encountered numerous obstacles advocating for animal welfare, among them getting apprehended in Japan during his collaboration with Sea Shepherd.
The winner of the Vegas Movie Awards expressed that he had never witnessed anything comparable to the latest fires, describing them as “catastrophic” or “disaster-like.
