I cannot help but empathize with Naomi’s harrowing journey through her health crisis and the subsequent maze of medical consultations. Her story is both heartbreaking and infuriating, as she was reduced to just another number on a file, rather than a person deserving of compassionate, informed care.

Naomi Isted expressed deep disappointment when the NHS suggested that she undergo an uncalled-for hysterectomy to address her persistent health issues, which she eventually managed to alleviate by modifying her diet.

A well-known British television host, aged 45, who is actively backing the Patients Lives Matter initiative led by Jay Patel, has shared an exclusive interview with TopMob. In this conversation, she disclosed that she was diagnosed with a challenging 10cm fibroid, which confined her to her home.

She mentioned that a benign tumor led to very severe menstrual bleeding for her, to the point where it could seep through her clothing if she wasn’t particularly cautious.

Being an independent interior designer, television host, and entrepreneur, the medical diagnosis made her feel self-conscious following an incident that occurred live on air. This unfortunate event cost her a minimum of 20,000 pounds.

She told TopMob: ‘It was so bad. I was bleeding so heavily I couldn’t leave the house. I couldn’t even leave my bedroom. I couldn’t go out, couldn’t see friends.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, let me share my recent circumstances: Due to unforeseen restrictions, I’ve been unable to attend glamorous red carpet events or busy work functions. This, in turn, has hindered my ability to collaborate with various brands, significantly affecting both my professional and social engagements.

2019 saw Naomi experiencing heavy monthly bleeding, and upon consulting her NHS physician, she was diagnosed with a 10-centimeter sized fibroid.

Fibroids are benign, tissue growths that can form near or within the uterus. These growths consist mainly of muscle and fibrous material, and their sizes can differ significantly. (Source: NHS)

But after having the coil fitted the bleeding became more manageable.

After three years, her heavy bleeding returned, which prompted the star to revisit her NHS doctor.

The visit left her ‘devastated’ and in tears after she said they told her she would need a hysterectomy.

Instead, she chose the embolization process (which is used to halt blood circulation within a particular vessel), yet, after a span of three months, no improvement was observed.

This is when Naomi decided it was time to go private for a second opinion.

Naomi went to see a private physician who informed her that a hysterectomy wasn’t essential, and instead, various alternative treatment options were suggested to her.

In their discussion about the best course of action for Naomi’s treatment, her new specialist advised her to reduce her sugar and carbohydrate intake.

Within a month of changing her diet, her fibroid shrank from 10cm to 2.5cm.

Naomi’s bleeding started to ease dramatically and said the change in diet had transformed her life.

The media figure openly admitted that she’s never experienced better health than she is now, thanks to a positive outlook on food and her physical form.

Pondering over her harrowing ordeal, she commented: “Tears streamed down my face because, at 45, I was facing the reality that I might never be able to have children anymore. To strip one of such a vital option, without any other alternatives, is truly heart-wrenching.

They brought up embolization, but clearly did not recommend it. Some physicians might suggest that a hysterectomy is the sole choice in this case.

Due to the multitude of various physicians I’ve consulted, it seemed as if none of them were aware that I had also visited another doctor; the situation was quite chaotic and disorganized.

She continued: ‘I was literally just a digit on a file. No one would know my case.

In each appointment, I would visit a new specialist who was unaware of my previous discussions with another specialist.

In other words, they are unaware of the situation I’m in, specifically the prolonged issue of excessive bleeding I’ve been experiencing.

Then, I would need to brief them thoroughly about the entire scenario, as if I were explaining things anew each time I met a different consultant.

‘So just pure devastation. Because also, who wants to maybe be forced into the menopause.

“It truly alarmed me, to the point where I felt utterly frightened. To put it candidly, it left me feeling shattered. In fact, there were moments when I had to leave because I was in tears.

Naomi contributed this narrative to back Jay Patel’s ongoing advocacy for the Patients’ Lives Matter initiative.

As a committed supporter, I’m advocating for the establishment of a foundation that aims to initiate a movement towards modifying the law. The objective is to enable an impartial entity to scrutinize and address complaints effectively.

On the fateful day of September 5, 2023, my heart was heavy with grief as I mourned the loss of my beloved son, Balram. He took his last breath at St Thomas’ hospital on August 9, due to a tragic condition known as pulmonary oedema – an accumulation of fluid in the lungs. This devastating event sparked an unquenchable passion within me. I felt compelled to act, to make a difference, to ensure that no other family would have to endure the pain we were experiencing. And so, with tears streaming down my face and a determination burning in my soul, I founded our cause on that very day.

The site indicates that Balram passed away prematurely, enduring intense suffering and distress, as a result of a series of medical mistakes and negligence by the hospital consultant and several staff members.

As a passionate advocate, I can’t help but express my deep concern that the Government seems to be reacting only after incidents involving patient care and treatment. Ideally, they should be proactive in identifying potential issues before they escalate. Regrettably, during the critical moment of the incident, there were insufficient measures in place to correct the problem, thereby potentially causing harm to the patient.
