TV Anchor Chauncy Glover’s Shocking Cause of Death at 39 Revealed

Chauncy Glover, a well-known news anchor in Los Angeles, has had the cause of his death disclosed three months following his sudden demise at the age of 39.

On Wednesday, it was reported by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner that Glover passed away as a result of acute overdose from drugs.

The deputy medical expert found that the television journalist, who was featured on the CBS station KCAL-TV based in Los Angeles, had been ingesting a mix of methamphetamine and chloroethane – a strong gas occasionally employed in consumer goods and fuel additives.

Additionally, it’s employed in the production of specific medications and serves as a local anesthetic for sports-related injuries, as well as being applied before skin piercings and biopsies, according to the CDC’s Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry.

This chemical can be repurposed as a recreational inhalant, but it’s important to note that it is distinct from the gases found in compressed air duster cans, which similarly are misused for recreation.

Prolonged exposure to chloroethane may result in brain damage, while higher levels of this gas can be lethal.

At modest levels, breathing in this gas can create sensations akin to intoxication, much like being under the influence of alcohol. However, a slight rise in its concentration can cause the heart rate and breathing to decelerate, potentially leading users to faint or, in extreme cases, perish.

The medical expert determined that Glover’s demise was unintentional, but they mentioned that the comprehensive report would only be made public towards the end of March.

Initial reports do not detail exactly how the drugs factored into Glover’s demise, but further investigation might reveal this information. Moreover, they don’t clarify the source of the drugs he possessed.

On the evening of November 5th, which was also election day, Glover was discovered unconscious at his Los Angeles residence. He was later confirmed deceased around midnight on the following day.

It appeared that Glover was progressing steadily towards more achievements in TV news, and he had even received three local Emmy awards.

One example was a remarkable video captured during the passage of Hurricane Harvey over Houston in 2017.

In a remarkable demonstration, Glover showed that he was not only a journalist but also a hero when he encountered a woman who was trapped in floodwaters and was about to give birth.

He helped get her to safety and into an ambulance to a hospital where her baby was born.

Throughout his life, Glover established the Chauncy Glover Initiative, an educational project aimed at empowering African American and Latino teenagers residing in urban areas. This program offers guidance through group and one-on-one mentoring, academic assistance, and encouragement for community service opportunities.

Following his death, Glover’s former stations put on tributes to their fallen colleague.

Previously deceased broadcast personality received the 2025 Excellence in Mentoring Award for Public Advancement posthumously during the 2025 National Mentoring Summit held in Washington D.C. last month.

The award was received by Robert Glover, who is his father, and Christina Porter, the project executive director at Chauncy Glover, in his stead.
