Former Turnstile guitarist Daniel Fang has been arrested after allegedly driving his car into the father of the band’s lead singer.
Brady Ebert, one of the original members of the Baltimore-based hardcore punk band, was arrested Tuesday in Silver Spring, Maryland, and faces charges of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault.
Police in Montgomery County were called on Sunday after a pedestrian was hit by a car. When officers arrived at a home, they found William Yates, 79, the father of Turnstile singer Brendan Yates, suffering injuries to his legs, according to the Baltimore Banner.
According to Fox 5 in Washington, D.C., William Yates and his family reported that Ebert initially drove to their home, repeatedly honking and shouting offensive language. He then allegedly came back and struck the elder Mr. Yates with his vehicle.
Music
I’m so excited! Turnstile, the incredible hardcore band from Baltimore, really blew up with their album ‘Glow On’ in 2021, and now they’re releasing new music with ‘Never Enough’! I can’t wait to hear it.
Police reviewed surveillance footage of the incident, which showed Yates stepping aside and throwing a rock at Ebert’s car. Ebert then sped up the driveway, swerved, and hit Yates. According to Yates, Ebert came back before help arrived and shouted that Yates “deserved it.”
Turnstile shared with Pitchfork that Daniel Fang underwent surgery to treat serious injuries from the recent incident, and the band is optimistic about his recovery.
Turnstile announced they parted ways with Brady Ebert in 2022 due to ongoing harmful behavior that impacted him, the band, and those around them. According to a statement, they tried everything they could to help him get the support and recovery he needed, but ultimately had to separate from him when communication broke down and he began making violent threats.
“We have no language left for Brady,” the band added.
Turnstile, a band formed in 2010, gained widespread recognition with their 2021 album, “Glow On,” which led to their first Grammy nominations. They won their first two Grammys in February 2026, taking home awards for Best Metal Performance (“Birds”) and Best Rock Album (“Never Enough”). The band is also set to perform at both weekends of the Coachella festival later this month.
