Trump’s U.S. attorney appointee Jeanine Pirro will leave Fox News and ‘The Five’
Jeanine Pirro, one of the hosts on “The Five” TV show at Fox News, will be saying goodbye to the network shortly after getting chosen as a temporary U.S. Attorney in Washington D.C.
I was thrilled to learn about Jeanine Pirro’s official appointment, as shared by Trump on his Truth Social platform on Thursday. Earlier, a representative from Fox News had confirmed her departure, suggesting that she would be stepping into the role temporarily filled by Ed Martin.
Martin’s permanent appointment was withdrawn following apprehensions expressed by Republican senators regarding his past associations with individuals harboring sympathy for Nazis and his representation of those involved in the January 6th, 2021 Capitol riots.

As an ardent admirer, allow me to share that Pirro, now 73 years young, once held the esteemed position of District Attorney for Westchester County, New York, and previously served as a county judge. Later in her illustrious career, she ventured into television commentary, hosting her own program on weekend evenings until last year when she graced “The Five,” the highest-rated program on cable news.
As a matter of standard procedure at the company, an employee or contributor from Fox News will have their contract terminated when they are put forward for a position in government.
A spokesperson for the network stated, “Jeanine Pirro has been an exceptional asset to ‘The Five’ for the past three years and has been a cherished host throughout Fox News Media during her 14-year tenure. Her contributions have significantly boosted our success. We wish her nothing but the best as she embarks on her new position in Washington.
Hosts and commentators from Fox News have held several positions within the Trump administration, with two of the most notable being Pete Hegseth as the Secretary of Defense and Sean Duffy as the Transportation Secretary.
Much like many nominees chosen by President Trump who are associated with Fox News, Pirro has consistently shown strong support for the president.
Pirro’s nomination, which needs to be confirmed by the Senate, comes with some baggage.
In the court case of defamation brought by the voting software company Smartmatic against Fox News, she is listed as one of the defendants. The lawsuit, worth $2.7 billion, alleges that she spread unfounded conspiracy theories and accusations about Smartmatic’s involvement in the 2020 election.
According to Fox News, their reporting about Smartmatic did not cause any harm, a claim they assert is shielded by the First Amendment’s protection of free speech.
After “The Network” decided to end Pirro’s weekly Saturday show, she was reassigned to “The Five,” where she now co-hosts alongside Jessica Tarlov, Jesse Watters, Dana Perino and Greg Gutfeld. During Pirro’s time on the program, its popularity skyrocketed.
