Trump’s Latest Response to a CBS Reporter Goes Viral

President Donald Trump continues his trend of insulting female journalists.

President Trump recently criticized CBS reporter Nancy Cordes after she questioned him about an attack in Washington D.C. that left one National Guard officer, Sarah Beckstrom (20), dead and another, Andrew Wolfe (24), seriously injured. The President responded by calling Cordes “stupid.”

Police say the suspect, 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, came to Washington, D.C. from Washington state. He’s now in custody and facing charges that include first-degree murder, according to D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro.

The situation began when Cordes asked about Lakanwal, a former CIA operative in Afghanistan, at a press conference. According to U.S. officials, Lakanwal worked closely with the CIA in Afghanistan for many years and had passed background checks without raising any concerns.

Even though the CIA Director John Ratcliffe had previously confirmed the information, Trump insisted there was no vetting process in place. He then stated, “He lost it, and that happens sometimes. It happens too often with these people. We have many others in the country, and we’re going to remove them. But they become unstable. Something happens to them.”

Cordes challenged his statements, calling them false and pointing out that his own sources had previously acknowledged a comprehensive screening process. She directly questioned him, stating, “The Justice Department’s Inspector General just reported this year that both the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI thoroughly vetted these Afghans before they came to the U.S., so why are you blaming the Biden administration?”

He lost his temper and sharply criticized her. The president aggressively responded, questioning her intelligence and saying, “Because they let them in. Are you stupid? Are you a stupid person?” He went on to explain that these people arrived by plane along with many others who shouldn’t have been allowed into the country, and repeated his accusation that she was asking questions because she was unintelligent.

I’m really disturbed by this pattern of behavior from Trump. This is the third time in less than a month he’s personally attacked a female reporter. Just last week, he singled out Catherine Lucey from Bloomberg, calling her a really hurtful name and telling her to be quiet. And recently, he went after Katie Rogers from The New York Times, making incredibly mean comments about her appearance and character. It’s just unacceptable.

Following both events, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt strongly defended President Trump, arguing that his directness was a key reason he was re-elected. She stated, “The president is very frank and honest with all of you. You’ve all seen and experienced that firsthand, and I believe that’s one of the reasons the American people chose to re-elect him.”
