Trump set to pardon reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley in bank fraud, tax evasion case

The popular reality TV personalities Todd and Julie Chrisley from “Chrisley Knows Best” might be able to step out of their lives in federal prison, potentially due to an intervention by former President Trump.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that the White House intends to grant clemency to reality TV personalities who were jailed three years ago for tax evasion and bank fraud in 2022. This Georgia-based pair became well-known for their hit series on the USA Network, which highlighted their opulent lifestyle and eccentric family dynamics.

The White House shared a video featuring Trump calling Savannah Chrisley, the 27-year-old daughter of Todd and Julie Chrisley, who have been vocal about their conviction’s impact on their family. In the conversation, Trump told Savannah that he intends to issue full pardons for her parents.

“Trump Knows Best,” the tweet said.

The main characters on the TV show ‘Chrisley Knows Best’, Julie and Todd Chrisley, have been sentenced to serve a total of 19 years in prison due to their convictions for bank fraud and tax evasion. Here’s a breakdown of how they found themselves in this situation.

On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Chrisley family didn’t provide an immediate response to The Times’ request for a statement.

In Atlanta, a federal grand jury has accused the parents of reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley of multiple crimes, including tax evasion, conspiracy, and wire fraud. The prosecutors claim these charges stem from a scheme that ran from 2007 to 2012, where false financial records were submitted to banks to secure loans worth millions of dollars. A second indictment was made in February, and in June 2022, both Todd (age 56) and Julie Chrisley (age 52) were found guilty on all charges.

That particular year in November, the reality television personalities were given prison terms: Todd was given a 12-year sentence in a federal penitentiary and Julie received a seven-year term. Additionally, they each got 16 months of probation. In September 2024, Julie Chrisley’s prison sentence was reconsidered, but the federal judge maintained her initial seven-year term.

Savannah Chrisley, a cast member from ‘Chrisley Knows Best’, recently stated at the Republican National Convention that it’s crucial to keep unscrupulous prosecutors in check. This comes after her parents, Todd and Julie, were found guilty of fraud charges about two years ago.

Ever since her parents were found guilty, Savannah has been vocal and forceful in contesting the verdict. Over time, she’s accused corruption within the court system, detailed the supposed poor conditions of her parents’ detention centers, and discussed her intentions to overturn their convictions – voicing her concerns and aspirations across her “Unlocked” podcast, “The Masked Singer,” and even at the Republican National Convention in July, where she expressed support for Trump. At this political gathering, she claimed that her family was unjustly targeted by rogue prosecutors in Fulton County because of our high profile and conservative beliefs.

In another part of her speech at the Republican National Convention, she emphasized that Donald J. Trump’s most important belief is his commitment to restoring America to greatness once more.

On Tuesday, Savannah announced on Instagram that Trump was planning to grant clemency to her parents, whom she had spoken with over the phone. Sporting a white and golden “Make America Great Again” cap, Savannah revealed her perspective of the conversation she had with the president.

She shared that she’d wept profusely before receiving a personal call from the president while she was at Sam’s Club. He informed her that he was granting clemency for both of her parents, meaning they would be released soon – either tonight or tomorrow. Yet, despite this incredible news, it still feels unbelievable to her.

I’ll always be thankful to President Trump, his team, and everyone involved, because he reached out to me. In a subsequent part of my video, I pledged my loyalty to President Trump, promising to work together and uncover any instances of corruption.
