True Blood Star’s New Movie SHOCKS Critics With Perfect Score!

He is a highly successful actor currently enjoying an exceptional run on Rotten Tomatoes. Following the release of his critically acclaimed debut, he managed to secure another triumph in quick succession, adding yet another accolade to his impressive repertoire within just a few days.

The recently released romantic film titled “Pillion” made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18 and was met with tremendous praise. This thought-provoking movie portrays a BDSM relationship between a confident biker and a shy parking attendant, which resonated deeply with the audience, resulting in an extended eight-minute standing ovation. As critical reviews began to pour in, “Pillion” opened to a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

In this new directorial venture, Harry Lighton takes the helm for the first time, also penning the script for the drama. This work is an adaptation of Adam Mars-Jones’ 2020 novel, “Box Hill.” The talented cast includes Harry Melling in a leading role, along with Douglas Hodge, Lesley Sharp, Jake Shears, and Anthony Welsh. Notably, this production has been recognized with a nomination for the esteemed Caméra d’Or award.

Richard Lawson commended Pillion, labeling the movie as “an honest, quirky, undeniably unique debut from Lighton“. Glenn Garner lauded it as a “beautifully poignant love tale“, set in the contemporary world of BDSM, and referred to it as a “novel kinkier holiday masterpiece for fans of Carol and Tangerine“.

Critic Brian Tallerico commended Harry Lighton’s daring directorial debut, commending its straightforward style, and describing it as “a film that dares to explore the unique sexual fulfillment of two contrasting men, almost effortlessly reflecting their societal roles.” On the other hand, critic Peter Bradshaw boldly states, “It’s essentially what Fifty Shades of Grey should have aspired to be.

Alexander Skarsgard’s Rotten Tomatoes Streak Continues

Pillion is part of several highly praised productions for Skarsgard. On May 16, the adaptation of “The Murderbot Diaries” book series, titled “Murderbot,” premiered on Apple TV+. Despite dropping to a 98% critic score, the project retains its “Certified Fresh” label. However, the audience wasn’t as enamored and gave it a 76% rating.

Since Alexander Skarsgard’s appearance in Long Shot in 2019, all the projects he has taken on have earned positive reviews. This list includes The Kill Team (69% approval among critics and 41% among audiences), Godzilla vs. Kong (91% approval from viewers and certified fresh with a 76% score from critics), as well as Passing, which received a staggering 91% approval from critics and 86% from viewers.

The film received a Certified Fresh score of 87% from the critics, while viewers gave it a slightly lower but still appreciative 52%. Incidentally, Lee managed a somewhat lower yet still impressive rating of 67% from the critics, but garnered a very positive Verified Hot 94% from viewers. Lastly, Eric LaRue earned a solid 69% approval from the critics.

Pillion is expected to premiere in theaters sometime in 2025.
