Trinny Woodall opens up about the death of her late husband Johnny Elichaoff and admits his passing ‘made her stronger’ for their daughter

As a lifestyle expert, I am deeply moved by Trinny Woodall’s resilience and strength in the face of tragedy. Her ability to channel her grief into motivation and success is truly inspiring. It’s a testament to her character that she has turned a devastating loss into a triumph for herself and her daughter Lyla.

Trinny Woodall has shared her thoughts on the demise of her husband, Johnny Elichaoff, revealing that it fortified her for the sake of their daughter, Lyla, as it served as a source of strength in the face of adversity.

The businessman who was married to Trinny, 60, from 1999 until 2009, committed suicide in 2014.

However, Trinny admitted that the tragedy fired her up to succeed with her beauty firm.

She told the Great Company podcast with Jamie Laing: ‘Death is terrible and final,’

I’ve been there myself, teetering on the edge of despair, facing a storm that seemed insurmountable. But I’ve learned that suicide is like a tsunami – it may sweep you away in the moment, but it’s a temporary solution to a problem that can be addressed and overcome. It’s a destructive force that rips through your being, leaving you feeling hollowed out, as if your very core has been pulled away.

When confronted with what seems like the most devastating scenario, a sense of “There’s nothing more terrible that can occur now” overcame me. Therefore, it appears logical to seize the biggest opportunity or take the boldest step.

In addition to being Lyla’s mother, Trinny is also the stepmother of Johnny’s son, Zak. She confessed that it was more emotionally devastating for her to lose the father of her daughter than to lose anything else.

Apart from acknowledging the tragedy had strengthened her, she shared that she hadn’t mourned for extended periods because she was busy handling its consequences. She admitted feeling somewhat upset at first, but later found herself missing him.

In November this year marks a decade since the tragic event occurred. At that time, Lyla, who is now 20 years old, will unite with her loved ones to honor and commemorate her father.

When Johnny passed away, Trinny was in the process of establishing her cosmetic brand, Trinny London, and resided in a luxurious residence.

After making up her mind, she opted to offload her home and channel the earnings towards her startup. Four years down the line, this decision led her to transform that initial investment into an impressive £180 million beauty business.

She advised Jamie Laing, “Perhaps it’s a moment for me to focus more and ensure the best safety for Lyla.”

‘But I also knew that this was this crossroads in my life.’

After parting ways with Charles Saatchi, who is 81 years old, last year following a decade-long relationship, an interview will take place for Trinny.

It seems that people speculate the cause of their breakup was primarily due to the significant age difference between them (20 years), leading to complications within their relationship.

According to sources close to Trinny, she expressed a desire to take a new direction and found the increasing gap in their ages to be a growing concern.

According to the source, Charles desires a more relaxed pace, opting for tranquil nights in instead. In contrast, Trinny seems to thrive on the opposite energy.

‘She feels she’s in her prime and wants to be out and about.’

For a decade, Trinny was in a relationship with Saatch, who parted ways with Nigella Lawson earlier. Yet, as she shared on Instagram back then, the influential figure in cosmetics and beauty expressed that she was focusing on what’s next.

Her post reads: “Today is a fresh start, a brand-new beginning, a new chapter in my life.” In her next comment, she expressed: “I was evolving, but now I feel like I’ve truly transformed.”

During a family ski vacation in France, she expressed her feelings poetically: “For the past three decades, I’ve gazed upon this very scene. It’s the only constant view I’ve known throughout my life.”

As a passionate admirer, I felt compelled to return to this place, bringing along my beloved daughter Lyla and our family, seeking a tranquil moment amidst the life-altering transition. The soothing symphony of the birds and the harmonious embrace of nature proved incredibly rejuvenating. It was an experience that offered healing for the soul.

Saatchi, once a renowned ad-creator, is estimated to be worth approximately £100 million. The value of Trinny, however, remains undisclosed, but her beauty and skincare empire is speculated to be worth around £180 million and growing. He chose not to respond to questions about his wealth.

In a 2021 interview, Trinny mentioned that she had matured significantly in her relationship. She explained, “I no longer allow myself to get off easy, so if he reacts with disbelief, I’ll respond with something like: ‘Seriously, are you joking?’ Then, I’ll go upstairs and reflect: ‘Alright, it’s time for me to grow up now.'”

It seems that, when one is around someone who has experienced much in life, they often become incredibly supportive – especially regarding business ventures and job opportunities. Such individuals act as strong advocates or champions for your endeavors.

In the year 2013, the pair began their romantic relationship, with it being said that Saatchi’s former spouse, Kay Hartenstein, had created a brief list of potential partners for him to consider.

After parting ways with food writer Nigella Lawson, he remained unmarried for some time. This was shortly following the release of photos that depicted Saatchi apparently choking her during a meal at Scott’s in Mayfair.

He explained at the time that it was a ‘playful tiff’ and accepted a police caution.

Later on, he admitted that his actions were merely meant to aid Nigella in staying focused, but she clarified that her attention had been drawn by a sweet baby in a stroller who had passed by, expressing her excitement about the prospect of being a grandparent. This led to a disagreement.
