As a writer, I am deeply moved by the inspiring story of Trevor Sorbie MBE. His journey from creating a revolutionary haircut like The Wedge to establishing his own charity, My Wig Hair, is nothing short of remarkable. What sets him apart is not just his exceptional talent in hairdressing, but his compassionate heart and resilient spirit.

Trevor Sorbie has revealed he does not want a funeral as he told how he has just weeks to live

The hairdresser, 75, to the stars shared the sad news that he had terminal bowel cancer last month.

At that point, he stated, “One night, I suffered heavy blood loss and felt unusually agitated, so I decided to seek medical help at the hospital. The doctors informed me that I had colon cancer, which caused me a brief moment of fear.

According to The Times, Trevor made it clear that he doesn’t desire a funeral, considering it an emotionally distressing event.

He mentioned that when the time arrives, his remains (or ashes) will be buried alongside Carole’s and our small dog.

If the cancer spreads to my brain, I’ll face it bravely. For now, though, I’m calling the shots, living life on my own conditions.

During the same interview, Trevor shared that he’s discontinued his chemotherapy treatment and was informed he might not celebrate Christmas this year.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it this way: “I can’t endure any more of this harmful substance anymore. When I inquired from a nurse if I would still be around for Christmas, she responded, ‘We aren’t sure, Trevor.’ That response irritated me. Although cancer resides within my body, it doesn’t dwell within my spirit.

On the “This Morning” show a month ago, Trevor, accompanied by his wife Carole, shared the heartbreaking news that he was diagnosed in June with approximately six months remaining.

He said: ‘I lost a lot of blood one night and was unusually disturbed so went to hospital. They told me I had bowel cancer and I had a little panic attack.

Initially, I gazed at Carole, and she returned my gaze, leaving us both speechless and at a loss for words. Unable to think of anything to say, I decided to go grab a large drink – a gin and tonic.

As a die-hard devotee, I can’t help but share this harrowing tale. The disease infiltrated his very being, reaching deep into his liver. Under the skilled hands of surgeons, he underwent an operation that stretched over six and a half hours – only to face another grueling, yet necessary, six-and-a-half-hour procedure later on.

Carole mentioned that by Trevor’s latest scan in September, it became clear that no available treatments would be effective because the tumor had grown to be excessively large and was situated near a significant blood vessel.

He has, up until recently, been going to work two days a week as it is ‘his medicine and my life’.

He shared with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard that he doesn’t usually think or feel pity for himself upon waking up, saying, “I don’t have cancer, oh how unfortunate me.

For over six decades, I’ve dedicated myself with immense passion, striving to surpass even my most ambitious aspirations. As I prepare to depart, I view my staff, who I’ve been honored to work alongside for three decades, as not just employees, but as an integral part of the team.

A healthcare professional visited me recently for an evaluation, and when I inquired about my chances of celebrating Christmas this year, they replied, “I’m not sure, Trevor.

I asserted, “I most certainly will.” The mind governs the body, while the heart significantly contributes; it’s like an engine.

Regarding her emotions, Carole expressed: “There are times when it feels incredibly overpowering, yet this man provides me the resilience. He’s helping me navigate through a noble demise – living well and dying well – and previously, I hadn’t given much consideration to that aspect.

As a devoted adherent, I make it a point each day to express gratitude for the gift of life and to rise alongside my loved ones. It’s in these small moments where our bond truly shines.

“Our small pet dog brings us immense healing, our family is incredibly joyful, and we’re blessed to be embraced by the entire Trevor Sorbie community… And Trevor himself leads us all.

She mentioned: “I faced difficulties and wept quite a bit, but Trevor and my son motivated me to seek counseling. I’ve even begun bereavement counseling, something I wasn’t aware of before. They will guide me through this process and provide support, holding my hand until it’s over, for however long that might take after the incident.

I must admit, I truly appreciate the strong sense of backing I receive, and I consider myself quite fortunate to have it… However, it is Trevor who provides this support more than anyone else, simply because he is exceptional.

Trevor has one child, daughter Jade from a previous marriage.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’ve discovered an extraordinary source of resilience in my personal endeavor, My Wig Hair. This unique venture empowers hairdressers with the skills to craft wigs so meticulously that they appear as if they were genuine strands of hair.

As a devoted admirer, I found myself deeply moved by my own journey that led to the establishment of this remarkable charity. It all began when my beloved brother’s courageous wife was fighting her battle against bone cancer. In an effort to help her maintain her dignity and self-esteem during this challenging time, I joined forces with her in creating a wig that mirrored the beauty and realism of natural hair. This experience ignited a passion within me, leading me to establish a charitable organization dedicated to providing such wigs to women facing similar hardships.

He said: ‘I’ve got a charity and I’ve helped many women through cancer, cutting wigs for them. People handle it in different ways.

‘There is no one way, no right way, wrong way. It is however that person deals with it. If you get this right (the brain) and it’s easy for me to say get that right.

It’s remarkable that you’re still here, defying the odds that doctors thought were impossible. Even they admit your case is beyond the norm. Last night, we enjoyed a delightful meal together.

A message posted on Trevor’s official Instagram on Wednesday paid tribute to his incredible career.

This morning, Trevor Sorbie MBE is set to appear on the TV show ‘This Morning’ on ITV. He will share insights about his impressive 45-year career and discuss his life’s journey, particularly since his battle with cancer five years ago.

50 years ago, Trevor introduced the groundbreaking hairstyle known as The Wedge, marking a turning point in the world of hairdressing. Since then, he’s opened his first salon in 1979 and has been shaping the industry ever since with his creativity, compassion, and fervor. His impact, from setting trends with styles like The Scrunch and The Wolf, to nurturing countless other hairdressers, continues to inspire us today.

With Trevor nearing the conclusion of his cancer therapy, it’s clear that our time together is becoming more precious. Yet, despite the gravity of his situation, Trevor continues to radiate an indomitable spirit, choosing instead to revel in life and the extraordinary legacy he has created.

Trevor is known for designing the wedge hairstyle and has won the title of British Hairdresser of the Year four times. In 2004, he was honored with an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).

Among his notable clientele are Paul McCartney, Helen Mirren, Grace Jones, Bryan Ferry, and The Beach Boys.

On top of her work at the salon, she frequently appeared on afternoon programs like This Morning and The Wright Stuff. Her roles often involved providing tips or performing makeovers.

After the heartfelt interview, people flocked to the platform once known as Twitter to praise him for his courage and encourage him to continue standing strong.

They wrote: ‘sending hugs to Trevor and his wife xx’

‘what a man! a genuine true legacy of a man! & the 2 of them, this team! Carole & Trevor are just the dream team. two awesome humans. Trevor, we love you. & we will never ever forget. thankyou thankyou thankyou for your work, your talents ie: that ‘wedge’ & more important, your beautiful smile’.

It’s a pleasure to run into you today, Trevor! Brings back fond recollections of our makeover times. Without a doubt, your presence on the show has inspired many others. Wishing you and your delightful spouse a heap of love. X

Truly, may God bless Trevor. It amazes me that Ben and Kat managed to stay strong. He’s such an attractive man, and it’s incredibly sad to think he won’t be with us for much longer… May God grant him peace.

‘What an emotional/uplifting interview. What an incredible man keep fighting Trevor’.

Reflecting on my extraordinary journey, I, a die-hard admirer, can’t help but marvel at the fact that I, Trevor, never envisioned myself becoming a hairdresser in the beginning. What an unexpected and delightful turn my life has taken!

He said, ‘I wanted to be an artist. But I got bullied at school and my dad was a barber, and he said come into the salon… and I found hairdressing easy! I was cutting people’s hair within three months, so I was still quite creative.’

Speaking about his stylistic approaches from the 70s and 80s, Trevor acknowledged that he had no inkling at the time that he was shaping something revolutionary. He was simply expressing what felt instinctive to him. In fact, he stumbled upon scrunch drying by accident – a method he used to expedite the process slightly.
