Trevor Sorbie, 75, reveals he has been diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer as celebrity hairdresser reveals he has just ‘weeks to live’
As I reflect upon the life of Trevor Sorbie, a man whose artistry and passion have graced the world of hairdressing for decades, my heart is heavy with sadness. Yet, his indomitable spirit shines through even in the face of such a daunting diagnosis.
Renowned hair stylist Trevor Sorbie, who is known for working with celebrities, has disclosed that he is battling terminal bowel cancer and only has a few remaining weeks of life.
On Wednesday’s episode of “This Morning,” Trevor shared the heartbreaking news, disclosing that he was diagnosed in June with approximately six months left to live.
He said: ‘I lost a lot of blood one night and was unusually disturbed so went to hospital. They told me I had bowel cancer and I had a little panic attack.
Initially, I glanced over at Carol, and she returned my gaze. Both of us found ourselves at a loss for words, unable to think of anything to say. In the end, I decided to go and enjoy a large G&T instead.
Subsequently, the condition affected his liver, requiring two surgeries that each lasted for approximately six and a half hours. Upon recovery, he underwent another prolonged surgical procedure of similar duration.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share a personal anecdote about work. Until two weeks ago, I was dedicating two days each week to this endeavor, for it serves as my lifeblood and passion. For six decades, I’ve pursued my dreams with relentless determination, striving for more than I ever thought possible. When I enter that workspace, it’s not just me; it’s a team I’ve been part of for three decades. We work together, bound by shared goals and camaraderie.
Last week, a healthcare professional visited me for an evaluation. Upon asking if I would be able to celebrate Christmas this year, she responded honestly by saying, “I can’t say for certain, Trevor.
I declared with determination, ‘I most certainly will.’ The mind governs the body, yet the heart significantly contributes too; it serves as the engine. Having established my own charity, I’ve been able to assist numerous women battling cancer by providing them with wigs. Each person copes differently with such challenges.
‘There is no one way, no right way, wrong way. It is however that person deals with it. If you get this right (the brain) and it’s easy for me to say get that right.
‘You can fight this. Doctors have even said you’re breaking medical science, you shouldn’t be here right now. Last night we went out and just had a lovely dinner.’
Trevor is renowned for inventing the wedge hairstyle, a title he’s earned not once, but four times as the British Hairdresser of the Year. In 2004, his work was recognized with an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire).
