Travis Scott charged with disorderly intoxication and trespassing after ‘misunderstanding’

As a seasoned movie reviewer with a background in law enforcement and a deep appreciation for hip-hop culture, I find myself intrigued by the recent early-morning arrest of Travis Scott, the 10-time Grammy-nominated rapper, in Miami. The incident, which was described as a “misunderstanding” by Scott’s attorney, involved the musician being booked on suspicion of trespassing and disorderly intoxication.

Travis Scott’s lawyer explained that the rapper’s early-morning arrest in Florida on Thursday was due to a misunderstanding that would be resolved amicably.

The well-known rapper, Jacques Bermon Webster, aged 33 and also known as the “Sicko Mode” emcee, was taken into custody at Miami-Dade County jail following an arrest on charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct due to intoxication. According to official records, he was kept in detention with a $500 bond for the former charge and a $150 bond for the latter. A few hours later, Scott paid the bail money and casually tweeted “Lol”.

Mr. Cohen, representing Mr. Scott, stated on Thursday that there had been a misunderstanding leading to a brief detainment. No violent encounter transpired, and we appreciate the efforts of the law enforcement in resolving this peacefully and promptly.

Around midnight, Miami Beach Police received a report of a commotion coming from a yacht at the marina, as mentioned in the arrest document obtained by The Times. The person who phoned in the complaint informed the dispatcher that there was a physical altercation taking place on board.

Upon arriving at the dock, I noticed the renowned artist Travis Scott standing there, fiercely arguing with the people on board the vessel. When the law enforcement approached me, they kindly asked me to take a seat. However, my excitement and adrenaline took over, causing me to repeatedly disregard their instructions and stand back up despite their commands as stated in the police report.

During this encounter, officers noted a distinct alcohol scent emanating from the defendant’s breath. The report continues by mentioning that the complainant expressed his unwillingness to file charges and merely requested the defendant’s removal from the boat. Additionally, when asked if he had any possessions on the yacht, Scott responded negatively.

The police requested that Scott depart from the dock, warning him of impending arrest. As he made his way from the boat to the boardwalk, Scott shouted profanities in reverse direction towards the vessel’s inhabitants.

The “Highest in the Room” rapper called for a ride and hopped into the car that had pulled up. But just a few minutes later, I found myself back at the marina, and apparently, I wasn’t supposed to be there. The authorities asked me to leave, but I stubbornly refused, leading to my eventual arrest.

In the parking lot of the marina, Scott ignored the orders of law enforcement officials who told him not to approach. After he started talking, his behavior grew disruptive and volatile, causing a disturbance for those at the marina and nearby residential areas. The affidavit notes that Scott disregarded officers’ warnings and returned to Miami Beach Marina despite being instructed not to do so.

Police said Scott later admitted that he had been drinking and stated, “It’s Miami.”

Another source close to the situation, unauthorized to make official statements, confirmed that no violent clash occurred between parties involved in the incident. Instead, they described it as a boisterous gathering. Following his release on bond, Scott returned home with no plans for additional legal proceedings.

“It was a minor incident akin to receiving a ticket with no injuries,” the person said.

I’m a huge fan of the ten-time Grammy-nominated rap artist, whose “Astroworld” album is a personal favorite of mine. Last year, he dropped his long-awaited first studio LP in five years titled “Utopia.” He’s also a dad of two beautiful kids with reality star Kylie Jenner. Unfortunately, his name made headlines for tragic reasons when the Astroworld Festival crowd surge led to ten fatalities and numerous lawsuits in 2021.

I’ve noticed that several lawsuits filed against Scott and Live Nation have been resolved outside of the courtroom. Back in May, the last surviving wrongful death lawsuit, filed by the family of a tragic 9-year-old victim, was also settled according to Associated Press reports.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I can’t help but reflect on it frequently. Those dear fans of mine hold a special place in my heart. In an exclusive November interview with GQ, I shared this sentiment, expressing my deep affection for them.
