Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole refuses to comment on Taylor Swift engagement… and talks dating other athletes

Kayla Nicole, who used to date Travis Kelce, seems to be avoiding any involvement with his high-profile engagement to Taylor Swift.

At the House of Champions event, during an interview with The Daily Mail (which took place as part of New York Fashion Week and was co-hosted by Sports Illustrated), the 33-year-old sports reporter chose not to comment when asked about the recent engagement of the 35-year-old tight end from the Kansas City Chiefs.

‘Oh, no, no, no,’ Nicole — who split from Kelce in 2022 — replied as she glanced to the side.

Nevertheless, she was genuinely thrilled to be at Champion, and it seemed like an exciting event to her, as she expressed this sentiment further.

Last month, Kelce and Swift announced that they were prepared for marriage, as they showcased images from their pre-wedding photoshoot.

Instead, Nicole expressed that she prefers to concentrate more on shaping her present and future rather than dwelling on the past.

Immediately following the news of his engagement, Kelce’s former partner posted a mysterious message for her 846,000 Instagram followers.

Nicole shared that her role as a sports reporter allowed her to meet numerous athletes, making them appear as ordinary individuals to her, stripping away the aura of greatness that spectators from afar might attribute to them.

She sounded surprised to learn that other men at the event had been asking if she was single.

‘Really?! Tell them, “Yes, I am!”‘ she replied jubilantly. ‘Who’s ever asking, absolutely.’

Nicole detailed the must-have characteristics of any man she might date.

She expressed her fondness for genuine individuals with strong moral fiber, stating further that it’s important they enjoy life and are unpredictable.

Additionally, they should maintain strong bonds with their loved ones, including their family members, and possess close, supportive friendships, particularly with their female companions.

‘This list is long,’ Nicole admitted with a laugh.

Instead of using dating apps, the sports reporter confessed that she didn’t feel comfortable with that approach. Therefore, she relied on her friends to introduce her to prospective partners.

She mentioned that she currently resides in her small, temporary abode, hinting at the upcoming transformation of her “Hot Girl Summer” into a series of seasons – “Hot Girl Fall,” followed by “Hot Girl Winter.

‘We’re gonna receive all of that,’ she added.

Apart from her own accolades, Nicole additionally lauded the co-host, Champion, during an exclusive gathering that signified the start of New York Fashion Week and commemorated its centennial anniversary. This selective occasion catered to a mere 300 privileged attendees.

In a now-removed Instagram Stories post, Nicole mentioned that her previous relationship began when they connected through an online meeting on a social media platform.

She mentioned that he had been liking her posts and subtly flirting for several months, but hadn’t directly messaged her. After a bit of encouragement from @iqueenb who said something like ‘What are you waiting for?’, she finally sent him a direct message on New Year’s Day.

She and Kelce were first linked in 2017, but they broke up in August 2020 before reuniting.

However, the relationship ended for good in May of 2022. 

During their separation, a report suggested that Nicole ended things with Kelce due to his alleged frugality and insistence on sharing expenses equally in their shared purchases during their relationship.

But she denied the report, calling it ‘absurd and very false.’  

Kelce also denied that finances had anything to do with their split.

For five years, we were in a committed partnership. Small amounts like a hundred dollars at a time didn’t even cross our minds, which was quite absurd.

In October of 2023, rumors began about a potential connection between Kelce and Swift, but it’s said that Kelce had shown an early interest in the popular artist as early as July of the same year.
