While the heists are exciting to watch, knowing how easily lives are taken from the parents’ perspective makes them much more nerve-wracking, as these kids are constantly in danger. The consequences of their choices eventually catch up to them, increasing the suspense and stakes.

Beyond the action and robbery aspects, Trap House really centers on the children of the police officers involved. The trailer suggests a lighthearted, comedic tone – these films often highlight kids behaving wildly. However, the movie surprisingly portrays the lives of these young adults with honesty, showing how some recognize the consequences of their actions while others feel invincible. It’s a raw and realistic take on the genre, delivered through an unexpected storyline. Tony Dalton, as Benito Cabrera, is particularly chilling, demonstrating a wider range than his previous roles in shows like Hawkeye. However, his character feels underused – he brings a lot of intensity despite limited screen time. The same is true for Kate del Castillo, who portrays a calculating and terrifying presence, but also appears infrequently. Despite this, both actors make a strong impact with their scenes, delivering intense moments that clearly establish Trap House is not for children.
