Trailblazer florescent to retire from VALORANT for at least the 2025 VCT
The leading player of VCT EMEA, Flora, has declared that she will be stepping away from the competitive VALORANT scene for the rest of the 2025 season, despite this decision being temporary.
Ava “Fluorescent” Eugene is known as one of the most exceptional marksmen in VALORANT. This multiple-time Game Changers world champion and top-tier Duelist player, currently competing in VCT EMEA, has announced a temporary retirement from VALORANT Champions Tour competition for the year 2025. At present, it’s uncertain whether this will be a permanent decision or not.
VALORANT loses a star as florescent retires from the VCT for the remainder of the year
2023 marked the explosive debut of Flor, who joined an exceptional Version1 squad. This team was later acquired by Shopify Rebellion. Although the Shopify Rebellion team continues to compete, Flor has now advanced to the top-tier competitions within the VCT.
Following her participation in the Game Changers Championship in 2023 and 2024, she parted ways with SR and redirected her efforts towards the VCT EMEA. Apeks, a team newly promoted from the Ascension tournament, became her new residence. She made history as the first woman to join the main VCT, serving as a powerful role model for women and underrepresented genders who are passionate about Riot Games’ FPS games.
During Flor’s term, it seems Apeks didn’t have much success in the VCT EMEA series, failing to secure a victory from the initial kickoff until Stage 1. However, according to Florescent, this lack of wins isn’t connected to her decision to step away from competition.
Florescent requests that people refrain from making negative remarks about Apeks, its team members, or staff, as she explains that personal emergencies, her family’s circumstances, and the challenges of relocating to Germany have necessitated a temporary retreat for her.
The organization issued a lengthy response, echoing the announcement made by the 18-year-old. They expressed their pride in her outstanding performance this year, which has proven skeptics wrong. Additionally, they acknowledged and appreciated Riot Games’ continuous support throughout the circumstances.
In the second stage, competition begins following the Masters Toronto event in June. Aiming for improved results, Apeks is hoping to qualify for Champions Paris. However, due to florid’s retirement, we are currently in a guessing game about their replacement Duelist.
