Toxic Feud Tears Eternal Apart: Louise Redknapp’s Bandmates Reunite with New Singer

Before the Spice Girls made their debut in 1996, Eternal held the title as Britain’s top girl band. With no indication yet of the Spice Girls getting back together after nearly three decades, there was a great opportunity to evoke some ’90s nostalgia that fans would have loved.

Nevertheless, fans’ anticipation was cut short when it was disclosed that the band has added a new member named Christel Lakhdar to their lineup as they aim to make a comeback on the charts with their first album in three decades, leaving only two of the original four members.

Devoted Christian sisters Vernie and Easther Bennett plan to make their return to the limelight with a reunion performance at Scala in London on April 30th. Interestingly, the show’s line-up does not include original band members Louise Redknapp and Kelle Bryan.

In September 2023, Louise, aged 49, and Kelle, aged 48, withdrew from an Eternal reunion tour due to Vernie and Easther allegedly refusing to perform at any of the LGBTQ+ concerts they had planned, citing concerns that the community was being manipulated by the transgender movement.

Not long after, it was alleged that Louise attempted to have her previous bandmates silenced by presenting their opinions in an unfair or misleading manner.

The current situation is the result of a prolonged conflict that originated when Louise left the band in 1995 to focus on her solo career and become the UK’s top sex symbol and a favorite among lad’s magazines. This move, reportedly, caused some disapproval among the Bennett sisters who were devout individuals.

In 1995, Louise decided to depart and launched her solo album titled “Naked.” Meanwhile, the group continued their journey, achieving a series of chart-topping successes, including their initial number one hit.

In 2000, they parted ways, but in 2013, they regrouped as a trio without Redknapp. Last year on Loose Women, he made a significant comment about the disagreement over the tour arrangement, hinting at the state of his relationship with the Bennett sisters.

She expressed that it had been her desire to organize a get-together with the girls, considering the fond memories they’ve shared. Moreover, she mentioned that she and Kelle remain inseparable friends to this day.

In response to Louise’s team’s assertions, Vernie expressed gratitude for having had the opportunity to interact with an array of varied and remarkable individuals from different backgrounds throughout her professional journey.

Originally managed by Eternal’s long-time representative Denis Ingoldsby, the duo Easther and Vernie – who still maintain their professional relationship with him – strongly contested recent allegations against them. Previously, he emphatically stated that they were deeply saddened and accused Louise’s team of distorting facts in a confidential email exchange.

He shared with Sky News that Louise and her colleagues are being widely criticized for their behavior, as they allegedly pushed others under the proverbial bus through bullying tactics. The public is deeply shocked by their actions, which seem to have deliberately distorted the truth in order to further their own objectives.

The girls emailed Louise’s camp expressing their enjoyment of the game Pride and appreciation for the values embodied by the event.

1. It’s completely unacceptable for their statement to imply they are intolerant towards homosexuality. This has nothing to do with LGBTQ+ rights.

2. To insinuate that they are against gay people, in the context of her camp, is beyond belief. This isn’t about the fight for gay rights.

3. The idea that her camp could be labeled as homophobic is preposterous. This discussion has nothing to do with supporting LGBTQ+ individuals.

4. It’s outrageous that they would insinuate intolerance towards homosexuality. Their statement has no connection to the struggle for gay rights.

5. To suggest that her camp could be homophobic is ridiculous. This conversation isn’t about advocating for LGBTQ+ equality.

In conversation with a mirror, Denis stated that no definite or scheduled dates had been set for the reunion. However, Louise’s team has refuted this claim to the press.

He stated that the sisters allegedly emailed Louise’s team expressing their enjoyment of Pride and admiration for the event’s core values.

Denis clarified that the disagreement has nothing to do with gay rights, and they’ve performed at numerous events supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

He commented: “Vernie expressed worries that the Pride movement might be co-opted, a sentiment shared by others, but regrettably, her concerns are being used against her, with Louise’s supporters attempting to have her removed from public view.

Louise’s representative, Simon Jones, has confirmed that they continue to uphold their earlier statements. To a media outlet, he said, “Denis Ingoldsby was not part of the discussions concerning the Eternal reunion involving all four members during the last two years. Easther and Vernie can spin it as they choose.

The pair made it clear that they would participate in the Eternal reunions exclusively, under the condition that there were no Pride or LGBTQ+ events involved.

Louise undoubtedly wouldn’t support leaving out the LGBTQ+ community in their touring arrangements. As a group, we firmly oppose segregating or excluding individuals identifying as trans within the LGBTQ+ community.

He added: ‘Absolutely nothing has been misrepresented.

We’ve clearly outlined the cause for postponing the eternal union, which involves both Louise and Kelle.

It’s true that an email was written indicating that Vernie and Easther would participate in the Eternal reunion under the condition that there were no Pride or LGBTQ+ events incorporated within the plans.

In alignment with my strong support for inclusivity, I made it clear to the duo that I wouldn’t participate in any touring plans that exclude the LGBTQ+ community.

Louise announced her departure from the tour by displaying the Progress Pride Flag on her Instagram Stories, with the caption: ‘Forever and always.’

In 2018, the flag was designed by the non-binary artist Daniel Quasar, and it bears a strong resemblance to the well-known rainbow flag from 1978.

The alternating bands of black and brown symbolize the marginalized individuals within the LGBTIQ+ community of color, while the combination of blue, pink, and white is a nod to the transgender flag.

In the ’90s, they catapulted into fame, and next year, they had planned an extensive reunion tour. Some of the notable events on this tour would have been performances at Pride and Mighty Hoopla festivals.

Although both events honor the LGBTQ+ community, it seems that the tour dates didn’t sit well with Easther and Vernie Bennett, the band members.

It became known that Louise and her group got a communication from Vernie and Easther, indicating they wouldn’t participate in any Pride performances or LGBTQ+ events.

As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but share this intriguing bit of news: It seems that my beloved duo, Vernie and Easther, might not be gracing the stages of Pride events or LGBTQ+ festivals if the long-awaited Eternal reunion indeed materializes. Quite a sacrifice for a comeback, don’t you think?

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share my perspective on a topic that has been stirring conversations within the LGBTQ+ community. I’ve noticed a growing concern among some individuals who feel their voice is being overshadowed. They believe the transgender community’s presence and advocacy are overtaking the gay community, which they find problematic. To clarify, this is not about supporting or dismissing any particular group; rather, it’s about ensuring everyone’s unique experiences are valued and heard within our shared LGBTQ+ umbrella.

Louise strongly backs and stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community, to the point where she and Kelle have made it clear that they won’t collaborate with individuals holding such views. Consequently, the proposed four-person reunion will not take place due to this stance.

The group organizing the potential Eternal reunión identifies as gay, encompassing their management, public relations, and tour promotion. I, along with the entire team, are committed to collaborating only with artists who hold affirming views towards the transgender community.

Over the years, Louise, now in a relationship with Drew Michael, has often taken the stage alone for various Pride celebrations.

Earlier this summer she took to the stage alone at Brighton Pride in August.

For the first time since Louise left in 1995 for her solo pursuits, the original band members were preparing to perform together during The Eternal tour.

They soared to stardom in the early nineties with hits such as Stay and I Wanna Be The Only One.

After Louise left the group, they continued playing music together for an additional five years before eventually disbanding. However, in 2014, without Louise, they reunited on ITV’s The Big Reunion program.

Recently joined user Christel boasts approximately 2,400 followers on her Instagram profile, while her YouTube channel currently houses just three videos, the most recent being a showreel that was uploaded back in March 2018.

In conversation with the mirror, Christel expressed, “I’ve been singing these tunes since my youth, and it feels surreal to be experiencing it all now.

On the first day of the new year, which was 2025, Christel announced her plans and aspirations for the coming year by sharing them on her Facebook timeline.

She penned to her audience: “I hope this year brings softness, calm, recovery, and plenty of laughter amidst the turbulence (for turbulence is often plentiful).

‘For those who are luckiest among us, be grateful. Let us grasp happiness’.  

Regarding the reunion discussion with The Sun, Vernie expressed his thoughts saying, “New tunes really spark our enthusiasm. It’s the place where we truly belong. We’re already asking for favorite songs. If we manage to create a smash hit soon or write one early on, that would be fantastic!

‘It’s got to be a great song like the ones we made before.’

Easther suggested that the previous album didn’t get a full run. He believes there are huge tracks such as “How Many Tears” that could be remade and put out again.

‘Sunday Morning is my favourite. I don’t know if it’s a single, but it’s my favourite.’

Regardless of the alterations in their band, Vernie and Easther anticipate that Christel’s vocals will seamlessly match with their 1997 hit “I Wanna Be The Only One,” as well as “Stay” and “Just A Step From Heaven.
