Tory Lanez Stabbed in Prison During 10-Year Sentence for Megan Thee Stallion Shooting
Tory Lanez has reportedly been stabbed in prison.
According to TMZ, Lanez was taken to a hospital following an incident where he was allegedly stabbed by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi during Monday morning hours.
32-year-old Lanez was injured, fortunately not to a point where it endangers his life. However, the motive behind the suspected assault is still uncertain.
An insider told the site that an ambulance rushed Lanez to a civilian hospital in Bakersfield.
1. I’ve reached out to both Tory Lanez’s representatives and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for their input on the matter. (Informal, conversational style)
2. I’ve attempted to get a statement from Tory Lanez’s team and the Californian Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation regarding the situation. (More formal, journalistic style)
Currently, Lanez is incarcerated for ten years due to the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion that occurred approximately four and a half years back.

In December 2022, he was found guilty for committing assault using a semi-automatic weapon, possessing an unregistered and loaded firearm in a car, and recklessly firing that firearm.
On Tuesday in August 2023, Lanez was sentenced to serve ten years in prison by the Los Angeles Superior Court. This decision came as a result of his conviction on three felonies related to an incident that took place in July 2020 in the Hollywood Hills.
During the sentencing, Judge David Herriford noted that the favorable images of Lanez presented by his family and friends during the trial were ‘hard to align’ or ‘inconsistent’ with his behavior towards Megan.
On occasion, even good individuals can commit wrongs, Herriford explained to the court, as reported by AP. ‘Every action has its repercussions, and in this situation, there are no victors.’
During the court proceedings, Megan provided testimony stating that Lanez fired shots near her feet and demanded she dance while she was exiting an SUV after a gathering at Kylie Jenner’s residence.
Initially refraining from publicly naming Lanez as the shooter, Megan eventually testified that she required surgery to remove shards of bullets from her feet.
In her statement, read out by the prosecutor before sentencing, the singer expressed that because she was brutally wounded by the defendant, not a single day since then has brought me peace. Gradually, I am mending and recovering, but I will always carry this experience with me and it will change who I am.
Before the judge announced his sentence, Lanez, who was looking at a possible 22 years in prison, pleaded with the judge for leniency, expressing remorse for the incident in retrospect and asking for either a light sentence or probation instead.
In a heartfelt confession, if given the chance, I’d rewind the fateful events of that night and make different choices. My friend, the very person at the center of it all, holds a special place in my heart even now. Every mistake I made that tragic night, I wholeheartedly own up to them.

Lanez received credit for ten months in prison, having been detained since his conviction in December.
Lanez’s primary attorney, Jose Baez, expressed deep disappointment with the verdict and believed it was more about setting an example as a high-profile figure. However, he emphasized that Lanez is not someone to be used as an example; instead, he is a human being.
Baez stated, “In some instances, I’ve encountered situations involving vehicular homicide or deaths, and yet the perpetrator serves less than a decade in prison.
Lanez’s legal team plans to file an appeal of the decision, and also seek his temporary release on bond while the appeal process unfolds.
The prosecution commended Megan for her bravery in openly sharing her experiences, despite facing harsh criticism and ridicule online related to the situation with Lanez.
In a straightforward manner, LA County District Attorney George Gascón expressed his wish that the courage displayed by Miss Pete might inspire others who currently feel powerless.
