Top Gun 3 Update: Tom Cruise Fans Are Going Crazy Over Exciting News!

Tom Cruise fans went wild on Monday over some big news about Top Gun 3.

Christopher McQuarrie, the director of the actor’s Mission: Impossible series and a writer for Top Gun: Maverick, indicated during an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast that the production of Top Gun 3 has made significant progress.

The director expressed, “It’s a done deal. I’ve figured it out. There were no difficulties,” he added. He initially believed it would be challenging, but found it rewarding to proceed from that spot.

He commented, ‘You enter the room exclaiming, “Let’s get moving, what’s our plan?” and Ehren Kruger [Top Gun: Maverick co-writer] suggested an idea, and we had a single discussion about it. The foundation is set, so it’s not difficult to find a solution.’

McQuarrie also said that he does not know who will direct the film. 

Earlier this month Cruise made it seem as if TP3 was far off.

He mentioned that they, along with the Top Gun: Maverick crew, have been brainstorming various ideas for the sequel’s plot.

62-year-old actor will return as pilot Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell in the upcoming sequel to the 2022 hit, and has hinted that he and the creative team are brainstorming ideas for the future direction of the Top Gun tale.

On the Australian “Today” program, Cruise mentioned that they are brainstorming and discussing various ideas about potential stories and what could be feasible.

It took me 35 years to fully understand the movie Top Gun: Maverick, which is why we’ve been focusing on and talking about both Top Gun: Maverick and another film called Days of Thunder.

At present, the actor mentioned that he is involved in multiple upcoming films. This includes Alejandro Iñárritu’s initial English production since 2015’s The Revenant, as well as collaborations with McQuarrie on various other projects.

As an over-the-moon movie enthusiast, let me share some exciting news! At this very moment, there are multiple movies in the pipeline that we’re tirelessly working on. My life is a whirlwind of shooting, preparing, and sharing films – it’s a dream come true!

Recently, I completed a movie alongside Alejandro Iñárritu, the director known for ‘The Revenant’. It was an incredibly memorable experience. Collaboratively with McQuarrie, we’re constantly developing various film projects together.

Top Gun: Maverick – a continuation of the 1986 movie Top Gun – centers around Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, portrayed by Tom Cruise, who mentors a new group of TOPGUN aviators. This team includes Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw (played by Miles Teller), Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin (Glen Powell), and Robert ‘Bob’ Floyd (Lewis Pullman).

Alongside introducing several new characters, Top Gun: Maverick brought Tom “Iceman” Kazansky, played by the late Val Kilmer, back together with Cruise’s character, Maverick. This reunion was particularly emotional for Cruise, as he described it as a ‘very special’ moment, following Kilmer’s passing last month at 65 due to complications from pneumonia after a prolonged illness.

Reflecting in an interview with Sight and Sound magazine, the actor who portrays Jack Reacher shared his feelings: “Returning after so many years, stepping onto the set of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ felt surreal. It seemed as though no time had elapsed. We laughed heartily and there was a palpable sense of joy.

Then, we began our performance, and suddenly, it was as if he transformed into ‘Iceman’. The aura of authority this man exuded, without uttering a word, was astonishing. Just observe his subtle actions, like even a mere sniff – he embodied ‘Iceman’ so perfectly.

Additionally, you observed the unique bond among those friends. Truly remarkable and personally meaningful to me.

I simply point out to folks… if you compare Iceman from the initial movie to his portrayal here, over the entire arc of his development, he essentially transformed into ‘Iceman’. Remarkably, he didn’t need to utter a single word.

Indeed, I bear witness to his extraordinary abilities. Truly captivating, they were like a precious gem, a talent he graciously bestowed upon us all.

Also last week Cruise said he is ‘never going to slow down’.

The actor has experienced an extremely prosperous run in the movie industry, with no plans on stepping away from it, as far as Tom is concerned.

He shared with The Hollywood Reporter: “I plan to churn out more than a hundred films in various genres – action, drama, and comedy. I am constantly energized and won’t ever slow down.

Tom has been a part of the Mission: Impossible movie series since 1996, and continues to show enthusiasm towards filmmaking.

Reflecting on the extraordinary journey of filmmaking, Tom shared: “The richness of working with various filmmakers, crews, and people from diverse cultures has offered an abundance of satisfaction.

All the knowledge I acquire regarding storytelling, living, leading, shaping characters, and every element of movie making.

I must say, this experience has been truly extraordinary; there’s simply no denying it. I consider myself incredibly blessed to create the films I do, and I genuinely cherish every moment of filmmaking.

Tom has captured numerous daring stunts for the Mission: Impossible series, and he’s established a set of pre-stunt routines as a precautionary measure to ensure his safety.

He mentioned: ‘I have numerous pre-performance routines that help ensure my safety – these vary depending on the task at hand and the level of preparation required.’

‘A lot of thought goes into it, and they are very complex and very interesting.’

This comes as his Mission costar Hayley Atwell insisted that he remains as ambitious as ever.

The brunette shared with People: “There’s an intense, emotional feeling of finality that’s quite moving. However, Tom Cruise seems to be a man who will never slow or stop. That’s just his nature.

As a devoted admirer and fellow cast member of “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” I echo Angela Bassett’s sentiment that there might be a future for the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise under Tom Cruise’s guidance.

The 66-year-old actress remarked: “When it comes to Mr. Cruise, you can never underestimate or dismiss him. He’s constantly ready for a thrilling journey and delivering exactly what viewers want. I wouldn’t dream of making such an assumption.
