Day 8 of the Dota 2 tournament at the Esports World Cup 2025 marked the continuation of the playoffs, leading to the elimination of two more teams. As the quarterfinals concluded, the final four teams were about to be determined, with the semi-finals on the horizon. Regrettably, for two competing teams, their dream of reaching the top 4 at the Esports World Cup 2025 would not materialize today.
In the recent matches, it was teams like Team Falcons and Tundra Esports that were making progress, while BetBoom Team and Team Liquid found themselves experiencing a series of losses.
Top 4 at the Esports World Cup: Two huge favourites eliminated
Following the unfortunate incident where Aurora Gaming and Gaimin Gladiators saw their keys shattered at the EWC 2025, two more teams faced similar outcomes today. First to advance to the playoff stage were BetBoom Team and Tundra Esports. Positioned atop Group B, BetBoom Team appeared poised to ascend into the top 4 at the Esports World Cup. Yet, Tundra had different ideas. After a rather tight initial match that favored Tundra, BB retaliated with a fierce response to even the score.
In a crucial moment of game three, BB lost their substantial lead, which could have been catastrophic for them. Once they found themselves under pressure, they started to unravel, and Tundra seized this opportunity. As BB struggled, Tundra capitalized, ultimately securing their place among the top 4 teams in the Esports World Cup Dota 2 tournament.
In the quarterfinals, it was Team Liquid and Team Falcons who were the remaining contenders, yet only one could advance to the semifinals. Regrettably for Team Liquid, despite their impressive performance during the Group Stage, they failed to progress further. The International 2024 champions struggled to establish a presence in the series as Team Falcons consistently snatched pick-offs. It didn’t take long before the series concluded, with Team Falcons triumphing 2-0.
EWC 2025 semi-finals: all teams and series
As we conclude the quarterfinals, the top four teams from July 18th will advance to the semifinals. The following day, the semi-finals will take place, leading us to the grand finals on July 19th. With just two days left, the Esports World Cup 2025 Dota 2 tournament is about to reach its peak, and the finalists must give their best efforts in pursuit of victory at this esteemed event.
